Product Description

Prehistoric clodpoll! 'What did you want to go and make a frantic bish like that for? Rule number nine million and forty-seven: Any boy beetling into class with twelve slippery raw fish shall hereby be liable to be detained during Mr Wilkins' pleasure.' Jennings turns journalist when he receives a printing kit for his birthday, and dubs himself Editor of the Form Three Times. Enlisting faithful Darbi as his assistant hack, Jennings sets off to the cove, where a French fishing vessel is moored, for their first story. But when their dreadful French ends in the unwelcome gift of a parcel of raw fish, the worse place they could hide it is in Mr Wilkins chimney!Frantic hoo-hah! Teething troubles fail to deter the tenacious Jennings, and his next scoop involves digging into Mr Wilkins past - what will he uncover this time? Super-wacko wheeze!

About the Author

Born in 1912, Anthony Buckeridge was sent to boarding school in Sussex at the age of eight. He went on to university before working as a tutor in a preparatory school and later became a fireman during the Second World War. Buckeridge was the first writer to use prep schools as a setting for his stories and, as such, is the creator of the infamous Jennings. His 'Jennings' titles have sold over six million books worldwide

Format:Paperback
The adventures of madcap Jennings and his long-suffering friend Darbishire were written almost 80 years ago but still are as fresh and exhilarating a read today. They are ideal for readers aged 9 + but don't let their classification as "children's literature" turn your nose up at them; like the William books they are ageless and classless. With catchphrases and nicknames which will become part of your vocabulary and a host of beautifully drawn, irrepressible characters who become your firm friends, these books are treasures. No family should be without them!

I have read most of Anthony Buckeridge's books on Jennings and it describes the life of an English prep school boy to an exact detail. In this book Jennings of course gets up to some funny things.
