Product Description

Product Description

They're opening a new restaurant in Soho tonight. Susan Ball's the owner. She's funding the joint with the money she ripped off from her husband, Frank 'Ballistic' Ball - the gangster, natch. Hoagie's the cook. He's from Manchester and his long blond locks have made him a natural TV chef. Trouble is he's also a screaming pervert. Cheb's the Ma?tre D. He's just back from Goa and he might not say his brains were completely drug-fried, but everyone else would. Oh, and I wouldn't trust him with your credit card if I were you. What's on the menu? Jello Salad. And what's that? A delirious mix of Tarantino violence and Almodov?r camp, whipped together by the coolest new name in British crime writing - Nicholas Blincoe.

About the Author

Nicholas Blincoe was born in Rochdale, Lancashire, and now lives in London. Describing himself as 'a one-time Doctor of Philosophy, an ex-Rapper signed to Factory Records (as part of Meat Mouth) and the aspiring High Priest of the New Pulp Literature, UK Tabernacle' he is the author of three highly acclaimed novels, Acid Casuals, Jello Salad (both published by Serpent's Tail), and Manchester Slingback. He recently co-edited the acclaimed anthology All Hail the New Puritans.

1.0 out of 5 stars corny unrealistic gangster drivel, 9 Dec 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jello Salad (Mask Noir) (Paperback)
If you're not going to buy one book this year, make sure it's this one. Blincoe obviously knows nothing about the London Underworld so why even bother? It's clear that Blincoe is trying to emulate authors such as John King and Irvine Welsh but he fails miserably.

Please save your pennies. This book has to be the worst ever written. Can anyone with a PC get a book deal these days? No plot, no character development, no depth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex, drugs and murder...What more could you want?, 5 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jello Salad (Mask Noir) (Paperback)
An excellent book, which I found hard to put down. The action was pretty much non-stop, with many interesting sub-plots here and there. Nicholas Blincoe is definately a writer for the chemical generation. Go out and buy this book now!
