This CD set is really worth having. I have Volunteers on vinyl and on CD but this re-master is a revelation. The album has never sounded better and is a joy to listen to. The Woodstock performance is just wonderful, from the opening welcome by Grace Slick "You have heard the heavy groups now prepare for morning maniac music......." to the dying notes of "House at Pooneils Corner". The 20 minute plus version of "Wooden Ships" is a gem but then so is every track. the album is well packaged, I love the little posters. This is just a must have addition for any Airplane fan or a good starting point for anyone climbing onboard for a first flight.

Finally! All songs the Airplane played on Woodstock are released on this 2CD Album. A must have for all you high flyin' freaks out there. The 20 minutes version of "Wooden ships" alone is worth it to own this album.
But the "House at Pooneil Corners" is just going to leave you spine chilled shivering with Awe!!!

There is also the addition of the "Volunteers" Album on CD1, although I guess 99% of all you Airplane cats and chicks allready have that one.
The whole packaging including the poster is very attractive too.
This Album is best listened to with your Mexican friend Marie Hue Anna---lol!

This is a clever reissue - pairing the sixth and much-loved "Volunteers" album by JEFFERSON AIRPLANE with their barnstorming and highly politicized live set at the legendary Woodstock Festival. And boasting top-notch BOB IRWIN audio mastering - it's beautifully presented too. Here are the peace, love and music details...

Released July 2009 -"The Woodstock Experience" on RCA/Legacy 88697 48240 2 (Barcode 886974824022) is a 2CD set celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the legendary Sixties festival (see list of other releases below). Inside a textured-feel outer card slipcase are two oversized 5" hard card replica sleeves - each with sepia-feel inner bags (separate liner notes too).

Disc 1 (75:26 minutes):
1. We Can Be Together
2. Good Shepherd
3. The Farm
4. Hey Frederick
5. Turn My Life Down [Side 2]
6. Wooden Ships
7. Eskimo Blue Day
8. A Song For All Seasons
9. Meadowlands
10. Volunteers
Disc 1 is the 10-track "Volunteers" album released on vinyl in the USA in November 1969 on RCA Victor LSP 4238 and February 1970 in the UK on RCA Victor SF 8164.

BONUS TRACKS:
11. Introduction
12. The Other Side Of This Life

If there was any band ready to deliver a strong message in front of the Woodstock audience, there was the Jefferson Airplane. Their message was one of freedom and aof new way of being human. This took place in the late sixties, these extraordinary years who so much changed the world. Grace Slick with Marty Balint followed by their gifted and passionate musicians did it. This set of CDs restitues the full concert at Woodstock August 1969 and the studio material from Volunteers. If you've got the later already, take it to ear it in your car: I used to think Volunteers was less potent as some previous stuff from the Airplane: error, it's worth listening to it again and again, it's fine music and it didn't aged... Enjoy!
