More About the Author

The author of almost a hundred books and the creator of Jeeves, Blandings Castle, Psmith, Ukridge, Uncle Fred and Mr Mulliner, P.G. Wodehouse was born in 1881 and educated at Dulwich College. After two years with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank he became a full-time writer, contributing to a variety of periodicals including Punch and the Globe. He married in 1914. As well as his novels and short stories, he wrote lyrics for musical comedies with Guy Bolton and Jerome Kern, and at one stage had five musicals running simultaneously on Broadway. His time in Hollywood also provided much source material for fiction. At the age of 93, in the New Year's Honours List of 1975, he received a long-overdue knighthood, only to die on St Valentine's Day some 45 days later.

This is a very typical Jeeves and Wooster audio book. The packaging is poor, just a cardboard box with paper sleeves inside with CDs in them. This came in slightly damaged from Amazon. I always pull CDs into MP3 soon as I buy them so its no big deal to me, but would be annoying if you do listen to the CDs.

I have only listened to two of the stories so far, but they are both available in other collections, well those two are, though there are slight differences.

The reader is good, I do prefer Jonathon Cecil for reading Jeeves and Wooster, but that's a personal preference, this narrator is very very good.

So in summary, if you like PG Wodehouse, and you don't have these stories, or even if you do, and want a slightly different reading, then this is a good buy.

I bought this for my disabled Mum to listen to. It's great fun and we have listened to each disc together more than once. A good version of Jeeves and Wooster and had me in stitches at times.
