We've only recently discovered the DK Readers Star Wars books, but what a find they've been! I have two little boys at differing stages of learning to read, but both huge Star Wars fans, and these books have really fired them up and actually make them want to read.

This book, Jedi Adventures, is a Level 4 book which is described as "Proficient Readers". According to the book this means that it has: Rich vocabulary and challenging sentence structure; Additional information and alphabetical glossary; Comprehensive index.

In this exciting book, the child gets to join Jedi Ahsoka, Anakin and Luminara Unduli on a couple of their adventures. This book is taken from the cartoon Star Wars The Clone Wars and features two episodes from this cartoon - Rising Malevolence and Cloak of Darkness. The pictures, as with all of these books, are stunning and there are lots of them. Even though there is quite a lot of text in this book, the pictures still feature very heavily on each page and make it a very attractive and interesting book.

The text in this book is fairly challenging and, as well as the rather difficult Star Wars names, the author has not shied away from using words such as "infiltrate" and "diplomatic" in the story. There is a glossary at the back and my son loved looking up the meanings of the words that he wasn't quite familiar with and these often gave rise to further discussion. Great for expanding their vocabulary! The snippets of additional information that are arranged around the sides of the pages are very interesting and add nicely to the main story. This book has been read over and over again in our household - my older son loves reading it himself and his little brother loves having it read to him. I think that, for us, this will continue to be a popular book for a long time and I would give it a higher rating if I could!

If you have a young Star Wars fan who is a confident reader then this book is highly, highly recommended!

This is a fantastic series of books which my son first found at the library. Really great. The levels don't relate to anything at school in the UK. Levels 1 and 2 are fairly easy, but the "Star Wars" specific vocabulary is tricky at whichever level you go for. Would need to be pretty proficient to tackle levels 2 and 3. In the UK, I'd suggest at least year 2 for an average attaining child to read levels 1 and 2 with relative ease.

My Son, as a huge reader and Star Wars fan, has read his way through so many of these... again and again. The engagement is excellent, the reading levels are not comparable with UK standards however, grade lower in my opinion but he has worked his way through them all but still goes back, almost in reference it would seem.

Very well written, excellent presentation and highly engaging - just what you want for a young reader.

My daughter loves Clone Wars and Ashoka is her favourite character. She is 8yrs old and reads this no problem. Has read over and over and is taking on holiday! It would also be good for younger children to have read to them.
