Being interested in the martial arts I have a desire to be as flexible as possible and this is what made me buy this book. I guess when I saw the "complete" guide to stretching I was hoping for some secret formula to make me flexible within weeks - and thus I was inevitably disappointed when I started to read the book. This is because a lot of the book described stuff I knew about from practising martial arts. There were bits of interesting information, theories and ideas in the introductory 9 pages (which I would have enjoyed more of), but the majority was made up of his stretching routine. This would be a good book for beginners who have little or no idea where to start when stretching. It can also be used as the basis of a decent exercise routine and can be followed as a helpful reminder so that you do not forget some stretches. However, it is not a miracle cure to inflexibility, but it does set out an answer to it involving time and effort. This is a decent book on a rarely documented subject with the potential to help people in any sports, and definitely worth a look, however, it contains no surprises and is more of a textbook to stretching rather than a complete guide.
