Product Description

Jaybird Freedom - Wireless Handsfree Bluetooth Headphones It certainly has been a while since we heard the roar of 'Freedom' from Mel Gibson in his role in Braveheart and today the cry of 'Freedom' takes on a whole new meaning the cry for Freedom of wires! Everyone has an MP3 player now-a-days. Walking up the street we see people fiddling with their headphones tucking them down their top or into their jacket or even pointlessly flapping around in front of their chest we see runners accidently yanking our earphones during a push to break through the wall it's all very frustrating to see. Why live in the dark when you could live in the light with Jaybird Freedom you are given a new opportunity the opportunity to be free from wires! Athletes are you ready? Freedom is designed with athletes in mind and come with a lifetime guarantee against sweat but truth be told even the day-to-day audio enthusiast will benefit from the hands-free

Hi All - I will try to keep this brief and to the point.

I have been a gym goer for a number of years now and battled with cables and arm-straps for longer than i care to recall. I have broken a few headsets with cables getting caught or brisk movement causing items to get thrown around more than they could put up with.

Doing weight training more than cardio i needed a solid set of headphones that could stand up against the abuse they get in a gym, having something that has no cables would be ideal...thats when i stumbled upon the JayBirds.

You have to look at these headphones in context, they are designed to be wireless, reliable, sweat proof, good sound and retain a good charge all while being user friendly and convenient. I would say that it meets pretty much all the marks, i have been using them for a week now and found the sound to be more than acceptable, its balanced and i can get into the tracks. By no means will they be a comparison to brands like Sennheiser or Klipsch...but look at this in context...the are wireless, and they are designed for the gym. I know when i get in the gym i am there to workout, not pick out the individual notes of a track, my focus is elsewhere...but thats just me.

I have found the signal to be reliable i am yet to have it drop out during a workout (i work in a fairly open gym with tallish ceilings and just stacks of equipment). I can easily have this on the floor and workout without the signal getting flakey. The battery seems to hold its charge nicely and interfaces with the iPhone a piece of cake.

My only criticism would be that i wish they utilised the same button control for the iPhone as they do on the headphones, but after a bit of adapting they are just fine. Overall a solid product, something i will hold onto for a while i think!

These headphones are fab!
I've had them for about 3 weeks now and use them a lot so I thought it was about time to review.

Some reviews said that the sound kept cutting off if they weren't close to the source, the sound quality wasn't great, and that they didn't stay in the ear very well, so here's what I thought.

I use them with an iPhone 4 and I find the reception distance and quality great. I can be in a different room and sometimes still be connected. Even outdoors or around interference I have never had a problem with the signal 'dispersing'.

I appreciate good sound and consider myself a bit of an audiophile and I do like the sound of these headphones. They sound warm and full, with just enough mid and treble. I can listen to these for hours and not feel fatigued by them.

The sound from the mic I didn't find great, quite muffled, so I don't tend to use it, although that isn't what I bought them for.

The buttons are very useful. The volume/track change and the power/play/pause/answer/hang-up buttons are very handy, although the main power button can be quite hard to press when it's new, I hold the headphone with two fingers and press with my thumb to stop it going into my ear! I hope this will become easier over time. It's not really an issue for me now though as it's become habit.

With the new GeckoGrip attachments I do find that they definitely feel more secure than without them, although naturally with the size and weight of them compared to regular buds that they are going to move around slightly depending on what you're doing. I haven't tried them with a more vigorous activity yet to comment on that.
I haven't really tried the extra hook shaped things that are supplied for going round the top of the ears, they seemed a little big for me.

Battery life seems good so far. They do turn off when you plug them in to charge but I have turned them back on and used them at home while plugged in.
The short USB cable is handy for carrying around and charging at work, etc.
The carrying case is also handy and very sexy, if a little bulky, but great for travelling. And the magnetic close is cool if a little hard to open at times.

The case and packaging is very classy and well made, which I appreciated, although then I hate to throw it away if it's so nice. In a way I prefer less sexy, minimal and more recyclable packaging.

I would give these 5 stars apart from they can make my ears ache sometimes; this may be the GeckoGrips, the extra weight, or just that I need to get the right positioning and sizes of grips/buds, time will tell, and also because the sound from the mic when on a call isn't great and has a delay (as do most other bluetooth headsets I imagine).

So anyway sorry for waffling away, and I definitely recommend them! :)

Got these for my wife and she loves them. Excellent sound quality without the wires flapping about when you run.

Running with Jaybirds
Have now run around 20 miles with these. A bit fiddly to get them securely fitted - I now use the ear inserts plus the loop around the ears to hold them in place. Read more

Disappointing
The headphones are difficult to keep tightly fixed in the ear and the reproduction of the sound is rather 'tinny' - thin in tone and lacks any real bass quality. Read more
