Amazon.co.uk Review

With sidesplitting dialogue and rampant profanity, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back reunites Kevin Smith's dynamic duo in supreme lowbrow style. It's the fifth comedy in Smith's celebrated New Jersey "trilogy". Here Quick-Stop potheads Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) wreak vengeance on Hollywood, where Miramax is making a "Bluntman & Chronic" feature inspired by J and SB, but without their permission. En route from Jersey to La La Land, Jay and his "hetero lifemate" encounter sexy jewel thieves (including the delightful Shannon Elizabeth), a precocious orang-utan, a dimwit wildlife marshal (Will Ferrell), and a non-stop parade of in-jokes, harmless (yet controversial) gay jokes, and splendid celebrity cameos. While gently biting the Miramax hand that feeds him, and paying affectionate homage to the Star Wars saga, Smith sheds all inhibitions to give Jay and Silent Bob a stellar send off that's nasty, sassy and undeniably hilarious. --Jeff Shannon

5.0 out of 5 stars Roll a fatty and watch this!, 17 Oct 2004
With this being my favourite Kevin Smith film, you would expect me to give it no less than 5 stars.

Well, there isn't much to say about the film other than it's one of the funniest films around.

I you are recommended to watch it then don't pass, if you don't like the dialogue then Kevin Smith's reactions as Silent Bob are classic film moments. With this being a cameo filled funfest then you will find everyone who has been a part of other KS films to newbies - from Chris Rock to Mark Hamill.

It may have one of the simplest plots around but it only serves as a purpose for some great laughs and future cameo appearances.

GO buy this DVD now and you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Jay and Silent Bob movie? Who would watch that?, 12 Nov 2002

At last! A UK release of a Kevin Smith film is given the proper treatment, a whole disc of extras, that alone is worth the five stars!

If you don't split your sides laughing at least once during this movie then there's no hope for you!

I had to get the four prior Smith movies before I'd let myself watch this (that was the geek in me) and I'm so glad I did, otherwise half of the 'in jokes' would have just gone over the top of my head. On the other hand I think this would be enjoyable to anyone who isn't easily offended.

There are just too many favourite scenes for me to mention, but one that springs to mind right now is the scene outside of the diner! Just. Too. Funny! Not to mention the commentary, deleted scenes (complete with introductions from Smith and Jason Mewes) a gag reel and hours of other cool stuff.

This is the ultimate culmination of the dynamic duo that is Jay and Silent Bob, and although I'm sad to see them go, this movie rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars snoochie boochies! :), 13 Jul 2002

Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, the fifth movie in Kevin Smith's Viewaskewniverse, may not be the best, but it still rocks in Kevin Smith style. Jason Mewes and Smith take centre stage as, well, Jay and Silent Bob, who discover that there's a movie being made about the comic book characters Bluntman and Chronic, who are based upon them. So they make their way to Hollywood in order too stop the movie. Nothing would stop them... Until they meet Justice (Shannon Elizabeth) and her three friends Sissy, Chrissy and Missy (Eliza Dushku, Ali Larter and Smith's wife Jennifer Schwalbach-Smith respectively) four lovely ladies who also happen to be jewel thieves. Eventually, through mishaps and encounters with a nun (Carrie Fisher) and a Federal Wildlife Marshall (Will Ferrell), they make their way to Hollywood and onto the set of Bluntman and Chronic. It's - of course - a cool movie, and Smith is as sharp as ever. Watch out for cameos by Gus Van Sant (director of "Good Will Hunting 2 : Hunting Season") as well as Joey Lauren Adams and Alanis Morissette.
