Amazon.co.uk Review
With sidesplitting dialogue and rampant profanity, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back reunites Kevin Smith's dynamic duo in supreme lowbrow style. It's the fifth comedy in Smith's celebrated New Jersey "trilogy". Here Quick-Stop potheads Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) wreak vengeance on Hollywood, where Miramax is making a "Bluntman & Chronic" feature inspired by J and SB, but without their permission. En route from Jersey to La La Land, Jay and his "hetero lifemate" encounter sexy jewel thieves (including the delightful Shannon Elizabeth), a precocious orang-utan, a dimwit wildlife marshal (Will Ferrell), and a non-stop parade of in-jokes, harmless (yet controversial) gay jokes, and splendid celebrity cameos. While gently biting the Miramax hand that feeds him, and paying affectionate homage to the Star Wars saga, Smith sheds all inhibitions to give Jay and Silent Bob a stellar send off that's nasty, sassy and undeniably hilarious. --Jeff Shannon

5.0 out of 5 stars Roll a fatty and watch this!, 17 Oct 2004
With this being my favourite Kevin Smith film, you would expect me to give it no less than 5 stars.

Well, there isn't much to say about the film other than it's one of the funniest films around.

I you are recommended to watch it then don't pass, if you don't like the dialogue then Kevin Smith's reactions as Silent Bob are classic film moments. With this being a cameo filled funfest then you will find everyone who has been a part of other KS films to newbies - from Chris Rock to Mark Hamill.

It may have one of the simplest plots around but it only serves as a purpose for some great laughs and future cameo appearances.

GO buy this DVD now and you won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, with Drawbacks, 29 Oct 2006

The obvious criticism of this film that can be thrown at it is the fact that it has no real point to it. It is unlike previous Kevin Smith movies (i.e Dogma) as it doesn't really go anywhere religiously, politically, or anything else you mght usually expect from a Kevin Smith movie. And yes, Jay & Silent Bob and the humour within is pretty silly and stupid, but many will find it funny nevertheless. Like I did.

The cast in this movie consists of plenty of the actors featured in previous Kevin Smith movies, and there are two or three references to movies that the actors/actresses were characters in (such as Shannon Elizabeth in American Pie, who plays Justice in this film). If you can put up with stuff like that it'll be a plus.

The plot itself. Jay and Silent Bob set off on a journey to Hollywood so that they can prevent a movie adaption of a comic book they were the basis for from being made ("Bluntman & Chronic). Along the way they meet Jay's love interest Justice (Shannon Elizabeth) and her three fellow jewel thieves, steal an orangutan, meet a scooby doo gang clone (hilarious scene), violate a nun, and various other crazy, funny situations.

Overall, I found Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back to be an enjoyable film as I don't mind when comedy films blatantly have no point or morales. If you do mind, then steer clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Jay and Silent Bob movie? Who would watch that?, 12 Nov 2002
By L. Newman "l_m_n" (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews

At last! A UK release of a Kevin Smith film is given the proper treatment, a whole disc of extras, that alone is worth the five stars!

If you don't split your sides laughing at least once during this movie then there's no hope for you!

I had to get the four prior Smith movies before I'd let myself watch this (that was the geek in me) and I'm so glad I did, otherwise half of the 'in jokes' would have just gone over the top of my head. On the other hand I think this would be enjoyable to anyone who isn't easily offended.

There are just too many favourite scenes for me to mention, but one that springs to mind right now is the scene outside of the diner! Just. Too. Funny! Not to mention the commentary, deleted scenes (complete with introductions from Smith and Jason Mewes) a gag reel and hours of other cool stuff.

This is the ultimate culmination of the dynamic duo that is Jay and Silent Bob, and although I'm sad to see them go, this movie rocks!
