Synopsis

The third film in the successful Jaws franchise follows yet another great white shark with an appetite for humans, this time invading the opening ceremonies of a marine park in Florida. The brand new complex offers visitors the chance to view the undersea kingdom from the safety of glass tunnels on the seabed. When a 35-foot great white breaks into the structure--seemingly in revenge for the death of its progeny--a group of marine biologists must do battle with the mighty mother beast.

I actually find this film entertaining as a b-movie schlock horror, rather than a tense thriller that was the original. Just to remind people about the effects: yes they are shoddy, but then again the shark in the original is unconvincing too (when it appears). This film was shown at cinemas as 'Jaws 3D' and was supposed to be viewed with those red/green spectacles, hence the rather perplexing scenes such as the fish head or when jaws smashes into the control centre.
If you view it as a horror fan, there are some great death scenes; the shark is really quite ominous due to its ridiculous proportions and there is great shock value at some of the grisly deaths meted out to unwary divers. Best/worst death is Simon MacKorkindale's (Holby city/casualty) character's ( you just know that the English guy is going to die in the most horrible way!) : he is attempting to lure jaws into a vent to trap her (she's a mother, after all) but his life-line snaps and he gets trapped in the vent with her...he then somehow ends up (still alive) inside her over-sized mouth. You then hear his bones cracking!! Truly disturbing, even if it's totally absurd as well!
Don't know if I'd buy it, perhaps best to watch it on channel 5 ha ha!

Utter utter rubbish 25 Oct 2009
By MH
Format:DVD
This film should have stayed "in the can". Very poor story telling. Bad story, bad screenplay, bad script, poorly directed, poor production effects, misguided cast & uninspired performances (sorry guys 'n galls). Even the music score didn't attempt to lend to the drama or suspense. Your life is too important to waste watching this film. Big thumbs down from me & I didn't even want to give it a star rating but Amazon forces you to do so - for token effort I suppose. All the magic of film-making, story telling telling is in Jaws 1 - the second movie is just-about passable, credit to Mr Schneider. Very obviously the executives were looking for fodder to promote a 3D theatre experience. You will regret having wasted your time watching this so I'm sure you'll have more important things to do with 90 minutes of your life - save those moments for rewatching Jaws 1 if you want to support the franchise.

oh my god 24 Nov 2002
By Barry
Format:DVD
i have never laughed so much at an ending of a film. The bit where the shark is coming towards them in the control centre is cringe makingly poor. The rest of the film was not too bad, though an even more unrealistic scenario. What was that under water tunnel made out of? Acrylic it would seem. Terrible 'special effects' at their best.

Imagine PAYING to see this at the cinema !? The first film is a classic film with high standards even for the 70s... the sequel was still pretty good. Read more

THE WORST ONE BY FAR!
JAWS 3 is despicable! Boring, with no storyline, bad acting, no gore and very fake sharks! The music is too oldfashioned as well! Read more

Not as good as 2, but better than 1
Jaws 1 was ok, jaws 2 was fantastic and jaws 3 is good. Why do people hate jaws 3? I think it is well cool, but without Roy Schieder it ain't as good as 2. Read more
