This book is a must for all those who are interested in the early days of air warfare. Jasta 18, known as the Red Noses because of its distinctive unit markings, was one of the premier German squadrons of the time and Greg VanWyngarden has done a superb job in reearching this detailed history of the unit and its men and aircraft.
This is a well written and thoroughly readable book from cover to cover, and is amply illustrated to Osprey's usual high standards. Detailed accounts of particular air fights are accompanied by almost equally detailed biographies of the units 'high flyers', and among the illustrations there are 26 colour plates providing the aero-modeller with a fine choice of finishes for Albatros, Pfalz, Fokker Triplane and Fokker DVII aircraft flown by the Jasta.
In all, as well as being very readable and informative Greg's book stands up an excellent reference work. It was well worth every penny I paid for it.
