Product Description
Alpha Lipoic Sustain 300 is in our Sustain bilayer Quick Release/Sustained Release format to maximize blood levels and to minimize gastric irritation and blood sugar fluctuations. Alpha Lipoic Acid is a unique lipid and water soluble antioxidant that is a cofactor in energy production; helping to regulate glucose metabolism. ALA also promotes the synthesis of glutathione. Biotin is added for optimum ALA activity. The advanced bilayer Sustain tablets combine 1/3 Quick Release and 2/3 Sustained Release formats to both immediately raise and to maintain blood levels over a longer period of time. Being an insulin dependent diabetic for 36+ years, I take this 3 times a day 30 minutes before each meal to help slow down or hopefully stop the advance of neuropathy (permanent nerve damage especially in feet and hands related to diabetes). Nutritionist recommended this to me.

I'm trying to avoid Type II diabetes and was told by a friend that alpha lipoic acid can help lower blood glucose levels. I have always liked Jarrow for product quality, so it was my choice.
I take one with whichever meal of the day is highest in carbs and my levels have definitely stayed lower. A one hour after eating blood glucose test used to be over 140 (after eating a high carb meal) and now I'm staying under 130.

Helps my foot pain

I bought these after reading several reviews of how they helped people with diabetic neuropathy. I had it really bad in my feet and was having trouble sleeping so I said I would try anything to see if it would help. These pills started to work almost immediately! I can finally get some sleep without the foot pain. I read that the R Lipoic Acid was even better for you, so I tried Drs. Best brand but it didn't seem to work as well as the Jarrow Sustain. I am back on the Jarrow Sustain. THANK YOU JARROW FOR A WONDERFUL PRODUCT!
