5.0 out of 5 stars Eating Healthily for Ever, 29 Jan 2006
I used to live in Japan for four years and I so I already knew how healthy and energy-giving the diet is. I saw for myself that people who eat this way really do not ever get fat. But when I returned to the West, I didn't have the courage or resolution to cook this kind of food in my own home. I thought it would be too difficult, too complicated. Naomi Moriyama's book has given me back the confidence to revert to this healthy way of eating. This is a real inspiration. I have given this book to many girlfriends and recommended it to many other people.
Incidentally, where 'French women don't get fat' is just a humorous guide to not eating cakes and white bread, this book is a serious work, with a practical guide to being healthy, forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healthy for Ever, 29 Jan 2006
By A Customer
Naomi Moriyama's book on Japanese diet is an inspiration. I once lived in Japan for four years and so I already knew how balanced, healthy and energy-giving the Japanese diet is. But now I'm back in the West, I didn't have the courage (and expertise) to continue eating healthily. This book has given me back the confidence to incorporate more Japanese food into my diet (and shown me that it is NOT difficult - wherever you live). I have given this book to most of my girlfriends as gifts and have recommended it to many, many people.
The book is much more helpful, incidentally, than 'French women don't get fat' which was just a humorous guide not to eat cakes and white bread. Thank you Ms Moriyama, for providing a SENSIBLE and tasty alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delicious diet that really works!, 29 Jan 2006
By Angie (London) - See all my reviews
At last, an intelligent book full of slimming and anti-ageing secrets that lives up to its promise. In "Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat" Naomi Moriyama reveals the secrets of a diet and way of life which makes Japanese women live longer and look half their age. Based around a simple philosophy of fresh and natural foods, the book is packed full of delicious recipes - a must for anyone who is a fan of wonderful Japanese cuisine. The food is simple to make, suprisingly easy to get hold of at your local supermarket, and delicious to eat. And unlike other diet fads, it doesn't leave you feeling restricted or hungry. In addition to the recipes, the book is full of beautifully written anecdotes which give a wonderful insight into the Japanese way of life. At times you really do feel transported there. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes Japanese food and wants to lose weight, get healthy and indulge in escapism on the way.
