'Both a good read and a stimulating picture book' Ceramic Review

Product Description

The "V&A"'s greatest treasures from the Toshiba Gallery of Japanese Art shine in this newly updated overview of Japanese art from the last four centuries. The Museum's superb Japanese holdings, acquired over a period of 150 years, started with the international exhibitions of the second half of the nineteenth century and have grown to include exciting contemporary works by leading artists. The result is an unrivalled collection of Japan's achievements in art and design, with particular emphasis on ceramics, lacquer, textiles, prints and metalwork.

Amazing 12 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am so glad I purchased this beautiful book. It has stunning photographs of works of art from early pottery to modern ceramics and all the other stunning stuff in between. If you have a love of lacquer work or Kimono there are photographs here with detailed descriptions and explanations that help you appreciate the objects on display even more. I am not by any means an expert on any of these subjects I just LOVE to looking at such beautiful things and there are inro here that take your breath away. A book I will be looking at again and again.
