I'm not sure why this book isn't easily available on amazon.co.uk, I would suggest looking for this on amazon.com or amazon.co.jp (which has an English language option).

This book is extremely useful, mainly because to accompany every Japanese/English translation is a picture, the word in Japanese, the translation in English, and the Romaji (which is the romanisation of the Japanese word, allowing you to pronounce it, even if you cannot read it in the Japanese script).

This makes it very easy to order, or find a certain food in a restaurant, or supermarket, because you can find the food by its picture, and then either compare the Kanji, or simply ask somebody.

The book is designed to be a communication tool between the Japanese and anyone else in possession of the book. Everything written in English, is also written in Japanese. This includes cultural notes at the back, the introduction, tips for effective communication etc. Literally everything is bilingual.

The book has the following sections:
Transportation
Geography
Life in Japan
Shopping
Japanese Culture
Enjoying Meals 1
Enjoying Meals 2
When and What Time?
Emergencies
Other

To sum up, this book provides a great, realistic collection of vocab and simple sentences arranged in a slim, easy to carry book, and is ideal for the complete beginner, or an intermediate Japanese speaker who has a hard time remembering vocab!
