Certainly one of the few publishers where you can pretty much count on them for a good book. This is a nice pocket sized but very thick book and covers most of the current small arms around today. Some heavier machine guns etc are missing but nothing major and probably as good a guide as any to current weaponary in publication. General history and brief spec along with a photo on each weapon.
Don't expect huge detail, as it is a recognition guide and it fulfills this role very well.

I am one of these people who wants to know what gun is being used by the hero or the bad guy in films (or the police or the criminals on the news). I understand this is quite common, although I have no idea why. If you are one of these people, this is the book for you. It is good value, well produced, very professional in its approach (the authors clearly know their subject very well), and just great for sorting out your Steyr from your Keckler and Koch. There is not a lot of detail on each weapon, just enough to put the gun into context - so you may want additional books for further information. Not all weapons are included, but the great majority of current and recent handguns, rifles, machine guns and assault rifles are there, with clear pictures and succinct descriptions. There are also quite a few more unusual weapons just to stir your interest further (Russian underwater handguns anybody?). I highly recommend this for a quick-reference guide in a cost-effective and easy to handle format.

I purchased this book to complement my copy of the Janes second edition. The new book offers a worth while update. Size is 192MM X 120MM 464 pages of information packed pages. I keep my book on the coffee table and in the unlikly event of seeing a gun I do not recognise on TV I can have instant information. Sections include Pistols, Revolvers, Sub macine guns, Bolt action rifles, Automatic rifles, Shotguns and Machine guns.
