Hershberger's book brings together speeches, interviews, and articles from over thirty years of Jane Fonda's campaigning on behalf of women's health and rights, the environment, war and militarism. It documents Fonda's passionate commitment to making the world a better place, as well as her own personal development. As Eve Ensler puts it in the foreword: "If I have ever known any person willing to evolve, willing to learn, willing to change, willing to admit mistakes, willing to find a better way of doing something, it is Jane Fonda."

Filmstar, activist, spokeswoman, iconic and controversial American; all sides of Jane Fonda are presented here. But what emerges most clearly is Fonda's enquiring mind, eloquence, personal integrity, and inability to stand by when injustices are being perpetrated. This book complements Fonda's 'My Life So Far' by rounding out the details of her campaign against the Vietnam war, and her tireless campaign to empower women all over the world.

This is an inspiring read and should be on every young woman's bookshelf. My only criticism is that it isn't long enough! More please!

Perfect present for a treacherous, unamerican, naive friend 24 Feb. 2008
By P. D. gray - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Have you an American friend who hates their country, is extremely naive about politics and likes nothing more then expressing ill-informed, ludicrous views. Someone who is willing to betray their country at the drop of a hat, perhaps someone born to a privileged background who likes to play the role of rebellious anti-establishment figure whilst sitting on a sizable bank balance thanks to the sweat from the brows of the folks they look down on and criticize.

If so then why not buy them a copy of this book which is full of "Hanoi Janes" most objectionable, laughable and downright unamerican words, guaranteed to get the steam pouring from the ears of anyone who loves the USA, what it stands for and in particular those brave vietnam veterans taken prisoner and tortured by the very people Jane speaks kindly about. Who will ever forget those lovely publicity photos she had taken in front of the anti-aircraft guns which were used to shoot down American aircraft...

I for one will be recommending it to a number of my military friends who are always on the lookout for suitable toilet paper out in the field.
