This review is from: Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg: Remastered (Audio CD)
This is easily the least essential studio album from Gainsboug's classic period, mainly because Jane Birkin provides the majority of the vocals. Basically your attitude towards this album will largely depend on what you think of Birkin's voice. I happen to think it's a pretty weak instrument so this collection of songs holds little interest for me.
It should be noted also that most of the songs here can be found elsewhere - "Je T'aime...", "L'Anamour", "Elisa", "Manon" etc....however, the version of "L'Anamour" featured here is a curiosity since it's slightly different to the usual version found on compilations such as "Comic Strip".
Overall I would say that this is a bad place to start if you are new to Serge. This is really a Jane Birkin album and song for song it's one of the weaker efforts in Serge's fascinating catalogue. For completists only.

I bought this CD for Je t'aime. It was a favorite song of mine when you could hear it in the '70's. The other songs on the CD are catchy and fun.
I was glad I bought it. It is good to have that oldie but very goodie in my collection.

I remember hearing this when it first came out. I was just back from Viet Nam. The fact that I remembered it says something. When I saw it advertised, I bought it, and I enjoy it now as much as I did then.
