Book Description

27 Nov 2013 A Timbell Creek Novel
The very last thing on Grier McAllister’s Someday List is going back to Timbell Creek, Virginia, the town where she grew up. Timbell Creek holds too many bad memories for her, memories finally put to rest with a successful image consultant business in New York City and a hefty therapy bill. When an opportunity to choose a “Jane Austen Girl” for a visiting duke falls in her lap, the only catch that she must be from Grier’s hometown, Grier tells herself she’ll do what she needs to do and then leave it all behind for good. But Grier doesn’t count on finding that her mother is no longer the person she used to be. She certainly doesn’t plan on falling for an old boyfriend’s really hot brother! And it isn’t long before she begins to realize Timbell Creek is not only a part of who she was, but might be a part of who she is as well.

About the Author

RITA® Award-winning author Inglath Cooper was born in Virginia. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in English. She fell in love with books as soon as she learned how to read. “My mom read to us before bed, and I think that’s how I started to love stories. It was like a little mini-vacation we looked forward to every night before going to sleep. I think I eventually read most of the books in my elementary school library.” That love for books translated into a natural love for writing and a desire to create stories that other readers could get lost in, just as she had gotten lost in her favorite books. Her stories focus on the dynamics of relationships, those between a man and a woman, mother and daughter, sisters, friends. They most often take place in small Virginia towns very much like the one where she grew up and are peopled with characters who reflect those values and traditions. “There’s something about small-town life that’s just part of who I am. I’ve had the desire to live in other places, wondered what it would be like to be a true Manhattanite, but the thing I know I would miss is the familiarity of faces everywhere I go. There’s a lot to be said for going in the grocery store and seeing ten people you know!” Inglath Cooper is an avid supporter of companion animal rescue and is a volunteer and donor for the Franklin County Humane Society. She and her family have fostered many dogs and cats who have gone on to be adopted by other families. “The rewards are endless. It’s an eye-opening moment to realize that what one person throws away can fill another person’s life with love and joy.” See a list of Inglath's books at: www.inglathcooper.com/books Follow Inglath on Facebook at www.facebook.com/inglathcooperbooks Join her mailing list for news of new releases and giveaways at www.inglathcooper.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful 14 Aug 2014

I love the little captions at the start of each chapter, they provide a quirky feel and a delightful insight into the characters. I kept trying to guess what would happen in the chapter based on the opening phrase. The characters themselves are very loveable, I found myself sympathising with and cheering them on. The relationships are all tastefully defined and you're left with a refreshing sense of the overall goodness of the characters. I would definitely recommend a read.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Okay Read... 29 Dec 2013
By KK - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had high expectations for this book. (Probably a little too high considering it was .99) If you like a very "clean" romance, you probably will like it. The setting for most of the book is small town Timbell Creek, Virginia, although the heroine is from New York City. So it goes...girl leaves small town for the big city and then goes back to small town when she really doesn't want to ~ you get the idea. You can relate to the characters and the characters are well-developed. However, there were certain parts of the book that made big jumps without enough detail given to the progression of events. There are no details to any of the intimate moments, which makes it a very "clean" romance for me. The hero, Billy Jack really does not "romance" the heroine, Grier. From the book blurb that I read, it described Billy Jack as a much more serious Bradley Cooper so I was expecting at least a few fireworks. (Fireworks just weren't there for me.) All in all it was an okay clean read with no fireworks or steamy moments in the book. Honestly, in a romance novel, I like a few intimate details without it having to be X-rated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Romance with class 7 Jan 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I liked this book because it dealt with all aspects of characters lives not just the romance part. Each character was able to touch on a little something within myself that I might have felt or dwelled on. I also liked that the romance wasn't all about sex but more about the feelings behind it.

2.0 out of 5 stars not my cup of tea 13 Feb 2014

I think my teenage daughters might enjoy this book, but I did not. It was juvenile and the characters were really underdeveloped. The words that "came out of their mouths" were often uncharacteristic, which really frustrated me. Had a hard time getting into it and I had to make myself finish it, always hoping it "turn around." But, no.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 25 Mar 2014
By VTmilkmaid - Published on Amazon.com

The "Jane Austen Girl" company and even the dating competition itself are very secondary story lines. Using "Jane Austen" in the title is simply a ploy to get Austen fans to buy the book.

Despite what it says in the book description this book is more about a girl who left a small town to get away from problems and is now going back and will have to deal with those problems. There is also an unrealistic romance. And I say unrealistic because if you were any sort of professional (especially one as successful as they portray the heroine to be) you would not be doing anything that could be perceived as preferential towards a contestant in the competition you're involved in judging!

I was also surprised to read that the author had grown up in a small town. There were several plot points that I just didn't believe having grown up in a small town myself. And I won't ruin the climatic scene at the end of the book for those of you that want to read it, though I will say that the author's depiction of what happens with a small town volunteer fire department is about 20 years out dated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! 24 Dec 2013
By Pat Hopson - Published on Amazon.com

This is one of my favorite books of 2013. The characters are so well developed and there are several interrelated stories around siblings, ex-spouses, parent/child and the loved shared by them. These are complex characters with human flaws and feelings. I cried for the pain of a missed opportunity to forgive. I laughed at the interaction between some of the characters.

I'm going to hunt down everything Ms. Cooper writes and hope to be rewarded with more good stories.
