In the UK you could be forgiven for thinking that Charles Mackerras was the only person ever to conduct Janacek well, so often are the names linked. Well, just as Colin Davis was not the first or last word in Berlioz, so I for one must state that, when it comes to music for orchestra other than the operas, I would much rather listen to the wonderful music-making of the Czech conductor Rafael Kubelik with the BRSO (this collection 1971/2) whose Janacek is so vital and colorful. His Taras Bulba is stupendous, the Sinfonietta full of drive and declamatory power (try the Orfeo live recording for even greater nocturnal charm in the third movement) and the Concertino full of humour thanks to an excellent rapport with Rudolf Firkusny (try to find the 2-CD piano and orchestra collection if you can). Get this CD and the one with the Glagolitic Mass: they'll bowl you over!
