Amazing performances 30 May 2012
By Colloredo von Salzburg - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This item is one of the best recordings from this seal. Once you are hearing the first notes played by
the orchestra you get inmediately engaged with this music. The Sinfonietta under Davis conducting the Royal
Stockholm Philharmonic is simply one of the best on record. The performance is plenty of beauty, crystal-clear
sound, perfect orchestral balance and a high level of care on details. The strings and brass sections are
incredibly good and can shock any listener. The result is a superlative reading that is an easy match for any
competitor taken as referece (Kubelik, Rattle...) The rest of works share the same features, and finally, for
Taras Bulba, perhaps just a bit less convincing than better known references, it is also a great achievement by
Sir Andrew and the swedish orchestra, sounding as a first line ensemble. An excellent Janacek recording and
don't have enough words to recommend it so highly.
