This is a fly on the wall look at Jamie Oliver and his trip to Italy to enhance his cooking skills. The DVD will appeal to those who love cooking as well as those who have a love for Italy. Its also a revealing peek into the life and outlook of Jamie who humbly accepts the regionalisation of Italian cooking and how he bows to Mama as the boss of the kitchen and household. Its great to see him interact with families and how quickly he picks up Italian and is bold enough to try his own ... learnt on the journey down to Sicily. Its a facinating dvd and will provide hours of enjoyment as well as ideas.

Buying this item I was expecting to find out a lot of Jamie's secrets in Italian's cuisine. Instead I got a very intersting trip journal whose main character was of course Jamie Oliver, talking about food most of the time, but giving only few recipes. Even so, my money was well spent and I am happy about this aquisition.

Yet another series where the main focus is on Jamie rather than the food. If you're a fan and are familiar with his previous books, programs and DVD's then you will enjoy wathcing the full DVD in one day, probably cooking or enjoying a nice glass of Italian wine. If you're not a fan and expect to get a lot of recipes of this series you might walk away disappointed. The series shows a great scenery of Italy and is a nice point of view on how various regions vary and what sort of cuisine the "real" Italians do at home.

There's a VW camper on the cover because that is what Jamie drives around Italy in! I've been longing for this DVD to be released - it's been delayed at aleast twice, and hoping someone will buy it from my wish list for Christmas!

The release of the DVD was delayed several times. By the time it arrived had had been using the book that came form the series for well over a year and the book is great. In the end the DVD was a bit of a disappointment, because it is not really about the recipes in the book but about Jamie Oliver's trip around Italy. It got better as the series went on, but more cooking and less "Jamie" would have been better. A recurring theme of the series is Jamie's annoyance with the press and its continual speculation about the state of his marriage. As the last episode, which he did make for national TV, is mainly about Jamie phoning home to see if the family will be going to Italy to celebrate his birthday with him, it does seem that he wants to have his cake and eat it! You cannot put your family life on prime time TV and expect it to stay private!
