5.0 out of 5 stars Super sharp and sturdy 28 Nov 2010
Firstly, the wooden block is great quality, solid and yet narrow enough to still fit on the counter neatly.

The knives themselves, are very sharp, with a super comfortable grip and handle shape, which makes them a pleasure to use. They make light work of chopping and most jobs in the kitchen, including filleting & boning out chicken thighs with ease. They are well balanced weight wise and I couldn't really ask for more. The bread knife is also a treat to use, cutting neatly and quickly through bread, without any 'squishing'!

Another bonus is the ends of the knives state their duty, so you can see at a glance which one to pull out!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant, brilliant purchase! 24 Jun 2011
By Nicola F (Nic) TOP 500 REVIEWER
Having recently done up our kitchen, my other half promised we could finally buy a decent knife set. We've made do with cheaper serrated knives for ages and though this set is expensive I can assure you that it is well worth the money. We absolutely love cooking but I used to dread the simplest tasks like chopping veg, because our old knives were terrible and couldn't slice the food properly.

These knives are brilliant- spectacularly sharp (so watch your fingers!) but super for cutting and they feel very durable. The block itself is sturdy and looks brilliant sat on my countertop and I love how the ends of each knife are labelled for their relevant purpose. My boyfriend DID make the mistake of slicing off the end of a banana a bit haphazardly not thinking they'd be as sharp as they were and nearly lost a finger end- so if you've only ever used less sharp knives then be careful with these at first!

Definitely recommended- I think these are some of the better `Jamie Oliver' cookware- he should be happy he has his name on these!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jamie Oliver Knife Set 17 Mar 2012
By Blue
Firstly I appreciate that this is not a 'professionals' set of knives and that people who are chefs by trade would shun anything from a celebrity.
I bought these knives because I wanted a nice set to use in the home, they were reasonably priced, look good on the worktop and the knives seem to me to be extremely good. They are well balanced, very sharp and in short do the jobs that I want them to do.

My only criticism, and it is very minor, is that the black handle does look a bit smudged if you don't dry it well after washing up, as I say very minor.
If you want a decent set of knives to use at home then I highly recommened this set

Great selection of knives, all really sharp. Recommend you also get the Santoku knife which is part of the same set although this one doesn't fit in the block
