I really enjoyed this book, What a tale. It gave me a feeling of what it was like to grow up in such an exciting environment. The son of 'Mr Respect' Freddie Foreman, Jamie shares his life amongst The Great Train robbers, The lively pubs full of 'The Chaps', The unlicenced boxing matches where more punches are thrown outside the ropes than inside the ring, with Fearless Freddie sparking out another mob almost single-handed.
Thrown together 'on the run', Father and Son, bonded by blood, forge a closeness that only the very fortunate get to know.
A glimpse into the real world of an actor learning his trade in exceptional circumstances. Jamie comes through all this. drawing on his own tough experiences, able to give dazzling performances, as in 'Elizabeth' with Gwyneth Paltrow, and shining in Gary Oldmans unforgetable, Bafta award winning 'Nil by Mouth'.
Read this book, It's a belter.
