Lovely stuff,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jamie and Angus Stories (Paperback)
Splendid, warm stories. If you and your kids like the work of Shirley Hughes then you will like these tales of Jamie and his stuffed Highland bull Angus. Perfect bedtime stories for younger kids (and older siblings who secretly still like this sort of thing).

A Boy and His Cow,
By
This review is from: The Jamie and Angus Stories (Paperback)
This set of stories about the life and times of a boy and his toy highland cow are really rather splendid. Rather than just relying on story lines that would not occur in most households Angus (the cow!) is woven into the everyday life of Jamie's family. There are weddings, illness, a less than grown up uncle and disasters with the washing machine. What makes these stories seem so authentic is the dialogue. When Jamie's father says "how did you end up here Angus?" I can hear myself talking to the bears, fish and hippos that share our house! These are stories that are both believable and beautifully told.
These tales are drawn from real life, are exactly the right length for a bed time story and lack the overt commercialism that dominates so many children's books. They will delight most younger children who are starting to ejoy "chapter books". Highly Recommended.

Love this book,
By D. Griffin "Mountaingirl" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Jamie and Angus Stories (Paperback)
A perfect bedtime book for a four or five-year-old. Jamie and his family members are so true to life, and the stories are engaging and funny. I'd love to find more simple books for my son--he doesn't need scary, irreverent or suspenseful--just good stories about a little boy with a little boy's emotions and concerns.

Jamei and Angus,
By S. Cain - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Jamie and Angus Stories (Paperback)
My daughter loves Jamie and Angus. She likes the drawings in the book as well as the cute stories. Her favorite is the one where Jamie and Angus have to go to the hospital for Jamie's stomach ache. While he is there he takes a little girl and her stuffed animal's last three chocolates that she was saving for when she got to go home. My daughter learned that it was wrong to steal from that story and every time I read it to her she tells me that Jamie and Angus are being bad. They are a tad long for bed time stories but I think the extra time is well worth a quality story.
