Product Description

Product Description
James Whitham, universally popular and one of motorcycle racing's most colourful characters, won three British titles and for well over a decade was a world-class rider, competing in World Superbike, World Supersport, Endurance and Grand Prix. This frank, sometimes moving and always riotously funny account of his battles with the best in the sport, with hair-raising crashes, serious injuries and - most gravely of all - with lymphatic cancer, ranks as one of the most riveting reads in motorcycle sport.

About the Author
Co-authorFormer racer Mac McDiarmid has been a personal friend of James for nearly 20 years. He is the author of a dozen motorcycle books, including the acclaimed Joey Dunlop: His authorised biography and The Magic of the TT. A highly experienced photo-journalist, he is also a former editor of Bike and Island Racer magazines, and lives on the Isle of Man.

5.0 out of 5 stars What A Good Read!, 9 Aug 2008
By N. Radcliffe (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've been a motorbike fan for as long as I can remember but it's only been the last few years that I've got into road racing. So I only know James Whitham from hearing and seeing him commentate on ITV and Eurosport, I never saw him race. I love the race commentary paring of James and Jack Burnicle and the way they joke and interact together. When I saw that this book was being published in Auguist it was one I knew I must have. I'm not a person who reads a lot of biographies but I had a feeling this would be good. When I saw the price that Amazon was selling it for I ordered it straight away. It arrived yesterday nmorning and I read the first chapter last night. I could just hear James narrating it in my head as i read it, it's written just the way he speaks, using northern phrases and expressions. If you like your biking it's a must get book and if you like a good read get it too, you won't regret it. When I've finished this I'm going to read the next chapter. What a good read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jamie, Jamie, Jamie......, 12 Dec 2008
I'm 10 years older than Jamie and lived within a quarter mile of this fantastic family but despite sharing similar interests never crossed paths. So a lot of his early days brought back my own memories. Incredibly descriptive and well written - I could visualise every escapade JW got himself into. Don't hesitate to buy, but must be read with a Yorkshire accent !

5.0 out of 5 stars James Whitham review, 13 Feb 2009
By Mr. Shaun Pope (Wales, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've been a fan of Whithams columns in Two Wheels Only magazine for a few years and an avid fan of his commentary on BSB and WBS events with Burnicle.

When I saw he was writing an autobiography I had it on pre-order and counted down the days until it arrived (sad I know!)

Lots of people say this, but I really couldn't put the book down. It had me giggling all the way through. It's not lacking in pages but I wish it was longer, thoroughly entertaining and highly recommended. It's almost like an audio book as you can hear Whithams voice in your head talking you through his various escapades.
the best autiobiography i've read without a doubt

5 stars
