We bought William Barclay's commentary on 1 & 2 Corinthians from the local Wesley Owen shop, and were rather surprised to find that if we wanted a wider choice of commentaries, Amazon serves us much better - the local Christian bookshop is limited to a small selection at any one time.

After studying through the Corinthians commentary, we felt confident enough to buy a subsequent William Barclay commentary online without seeing the content first. The book breaks the epistles down into passages, and provides commentary on those passages, that we find just right in size for each day's study. The commentary is interesting, drawing on historic and more contemporary events to bring the passage to life. We find the best way to do daily devotional study is to study the scripture passage and write your own notes first, and then read what the commentary has to say.
