Reviews

James May is back with James May’s MAN LAB – a further exploration of manly things that men should be doing – and aren’t.

Things like… map reading if you’re ever on the run from Dartmoor Prison; how to remember the names of everyone you meet at a party; how to make your own toilet paper; how not to be scared of ghosts; a method for blasting your pet’s ashes into space; creating a Swiss Army Bicycle; how to take – or not to take – a penalty kick that could make or break history; and so much more.

And not forgetting The Man Lab Christmas Special!  Cutting your Christmas Tree with explosives; making the perfect Man Lab Christmas Lunch with Man Lab Christmas Crackers, real snow and more surprises for your guests.

James May’s Man Lab Series Two.  Because you can’t have just One.

 Special Features:

  • Christmas Special
  • Bonus Footage Not Seen on TV

James and the boys are back for a second series of problem solving, inventing things you never knew you needed, and providing plenty of laughs and entertainment along the way.Second time around, some of the many things we learn are how to make your own pool table, how to bring back a rock group who never made it the first time around, and how to make the boiler suit not just fashionable, but the only item of clothing any man will ever need.As with the first series it is James May who holds the whole thing together, his affable presenting style and sence of humour are what makes the show work,he really is one of the most likable people on the tv at the moment.Hes joined by his presenting and sparring-partner Oz Clarke,as they attempt to escape from Dartmoor Prison, while endlessly squabbling, and also in the Christmas Special, which thankfully is also included.

Offering up almost 5 hours of entertainment, series 2 is every bit as good as series 1,so I can safely say if you liked that one your going to like this second helping. So what are you waiting for,get back in the lab.

Very funny and full of useless but informative information nonetheless. Similar feel to Top Gear - blunt, tongue in cheek and occasionally politically incorrect. What else are you going to do on a Sunday afternoon? The Christmas episode is particularly entertaining, be it Xmas or not

Just as good as the first series. Loved the series, interesting to see how they made the objects. Done with a touch of humour. Something for the men, but women may like it too,

I bought this after seeing the series on youtube.com and unlike (atleast the American DVD) this series is not edited for time and content. Additionally, there is bonus footage, which is fun. The series itself contains more and more fun ideas than the first, plus there is the Christmas special. Charlie and Cassandra are gone, but replaced in a way by Rory, ManLab's "callow youth". I found the second episode with the ghost busting ("How not to be scared") and Love Fungus ("How to be a rock star") particuarly fun. Watching James May introduce Love Fungus at a heavy metal festival is worth the money of the DVD. Overall I'm glad I faced the exchange rate and DVD region issues to get the DVD when it's not available in the US yet.
