Product Description

The very special magic of James Herriot’s storytelling shines throughout this classic collection of stories about the animal he loves the most. Here are some of the dogs who have won a special place in the country vet’s heart – dogs like Tricki Woo, the little Pekinese suffering from ‘flop-butt’; Clancy the dog who nobody would go near; and Gyp, the sheepdog who only barked once in his life. They’re joined by lovable dogs of all shapes and sizes in a wonderful collection of stories, which will be enjoyed by all dog-lovers and James Herriot fans alike. ‘The tales can be read and re-read... what shines through all the stories is that dogs give us enormous pleasure.’ Sunday Times ‘James Herriot provokes a chuckle, or a lump in your throat, in every chapter.’ Daily Mirror

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for dog lovers! 27 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is a thoroughly enjoyable book for anyone who has shared their life with a dog. The stories focus on the different personalities and ways of dogs and are both touching and amusing. The stories could easily be related to experiences with my own dog and were very funny. This book speaks volumes about how wonderful dogs are and how they bring joy to your life. I have no hesitation in recommending this book. Ideal for any dog lover of any age!
