This book, though not misleading in its title, does leave a lot to be desired when described as giving a 'History Of The Illustrated 007'. This history for the majority of the book amounts to listing the titles of comic strip runs, graphic novels and film tie ins, with publishing dates and limited plot descriptions. This information seems to appeal best to a collector or completist who is trying to lis and track down every print for their collection. There are a couple of interviews with artists and a brief summation of how Bond found himself in the Daily Express and other publications but it is all a bit lackluster and gives no new information or exciting new images. There are some interesting images from film tie ins and foreign comics but they are poorly annotated or there simply for titillation.
I was bought this under the illusion it would be more wide reaching in its meaning of illustrated - to include posters, art department concept design, non-official artwork, book covers and generally more pictures rather than a long list of facts and dates. I am sure in its place a very interesting book - but that place is not with me.
