The second series of Jennifer Saunders subtle and endearing comedy/drama, (yes, drama!), continues where the first left off, seeing all the members of the original series reunited. (Joanna Lumley however makes a spectacular "exit" early on).
If anything, this series is an improvement on the first, mainly i think because the charecters are so rounded and developed, thanks to the writers incredible perseption in peoples everyday lives and interaction. Some tough issues are tackled here and some quite dark undercurrents are briefly exposed at moments almost deisgned to shock, this said, even those are handled with sensitivety and humour.
This collection; six episodes in total, benefit enormously from re-watching, like Victoria Wood's "Dinnerladies", it matures and the watcher appreciates more of the skill in the writers and actors talents with each repeated viewing.
Criminally ignored by and large when first transmitted, now you can sit back, relax, and like a good book, soak it all up at a leasurely pace....bliss!
(The third series is being scripted at the moment and should be out early next year).
