For a first time author this book is real surprise, i bought it for the wife as she reads many books of this type however i was taken by it straight away and have now finished it.
Fluid and well written the tale works well and draws the reader into the world of the stones and the characters with ease.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Kids Adored It! 21 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
Truly an "unputdownable read!" A pleasure to read aloud to my sons, we were engrossed in the action from start to finish. The characters are extremely well written, and you WILL form an emotional attachment to them. They're so well crafted, they remain in your thoughts for a long time. The book is full of amazing, exhilarating twists and the plot will keep you gripped.

I must say its a rare thing to find a book so beautifully illustrated, the internal maps are really lovingly detailed and it was lovely to be able to chart Jake's journies upon them.

My boys have difficulty concentrating sometimes, but pestered me to keep reading this book! Amazing that they could sit still long enough to enjoy it. But they certainly did! Thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, wow, wow! Can't wait for the next! 10 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
I live in Lichfield, where parts of this book is based and I read about it in my local paper. I ordered the book from Amazon and took it on holiday along with 5 others, including some from very well known authors. This book was the highlight of my reads and probably, in my opinion as gripping, captivating and as imaginative as any of the Harry Potter books. My only regret is that the saga finishes when it does. I really hope that M J Webb continues with another that starts where this one finishes. Not giving anything away I want to read how the battle ends!

The book takes you away from this world to a far off land that although very different from ours shares a lot of the same problems. It the classic battle between good and evil and once the story grips you it's impossible to put down.

Very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Read. 5 April 2013
Format:Paperback
What a wonderful first book by MJ Webb. Enjoyed reading it from end to end and bought the follow-ups in the trilogy as soon as were available. Story is gripping and characters are developed and described well. If you are thinking of buying this do so right away and the other 2 books. Begging to made into a film!

Another of my free downloads by an author I have never read or heard of before now and one who is going on my list of most promising story-weavers.
Why? For a first time story-weaver this story came as a real surprise, I was hooked from the start and the story was so fluid and well woven it was as if I was reading a story from a well-seasoned story-weaver!
I was drawn into this world of M. J. Webb and found characters and a world so complex that I didn't want to leave.
The application of the graphic depictions of this world and its characters helped to portray a vibrant, convincing story, one that you could easily imagine seeing on the movie screen.
The story itself is woven with mystery, humour, expectation, passions, and the long-standing battle of good vs. evil.
I look forward to reading the second book in this trilogy "Jake West - Warriors of the Heynai"
"Jake West - The Keeper of the Stones" is a superb story for all age groups, you just require a little vision to make it come to life in your minds-eye.
So to conclude; this is a very well woven fantasy adventure and the story-weaver can only get better at his craft.
The story is very involving and will make you want to see what happens to the world of Jake West and his friends.
I actually bought and downloaded "The Jake West Trilogy" for only £3.08p and am looking forward to reading about what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read...... highly recommended!! 2 Feb 2013

I read this book out of curiosity as its not my usual read. The reviews looked good so I gave it a go and I must say I was not disappointed. I found myself unable to put the book down and read it in one evening, I then bought the second book and had to restrain myself from starting it instantly.
If you are unsure whether to give this book a try then go for it you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely brilliant read from the very first chapter.
Downloaded to my kindle for my holidays but had to read it all in one day and had to download the 2nd book as soon as I finished it !
Tolkien meets Narnia with the old D&D games thrown in for good measure, cracking debut from MJ Webb.
Look forward to more

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down!! 1 July 2012

I began reading Jake West - The Keeper of the Stones on holiday. From the get go I couldn't put it down. I was immediately drawn into it as the characters come to life straight away and I felt that I was actually with them experiencing all that they were and had to keep reading to find out more. The use of the vivid descriptions of the characters in this world and the other, help to paint a colourful, three dimensional picture that you could imagine seeing on a big cinema screen. The story is full of mystery, humour, suspense, emotions, learnings and the age old battle of good versus evil. I am so pleased that I took the second book in this trilogy Jake West - Warriors of the Heynai on holiday too because as soon as I'd finished I began to read it without a moments hesitation. Jake West - The Keeper of the Stones is an excellent read for all age groups, all you need is a little imagination to make it come alive.
