The Jagwire products I've used have all been top notch, high quality components.
I bought the Road Pro/Racer cable & housing kit for an older road bike. This kit does not have a sufficient amount of brake housing to complete a full housing run on even a smaller framed bicycle with non-aero levers.
I understand that the vast majority of bicycles made these days have aero levers with cable routing under the bar tape. However, there is still an exceptionally large amount of bicycles with older style levers in use, all around the world. Many would benefit from Jagwire's Teflon coated cables and pre-lubed housing.
There is no disclaimer in the product packaging, nor the product descriptions, in print or online, that this kit is not compatible for "vintage" style bicycles. There is not a specification that it is only, or even just recommended for aero style levers or integrated shift/brake levers. I've spoken with several people that have had this issue, and been disappointed by the amount of housing provided in this kit. If there were a provision of "for aero levers" or "not for non-aero levers," I would consider myself at fault for not reading the packaging. However, there is no way to know, except to buy the kit. I did not discover this until I opened the package and had actually cut the housing for the shifters and was preparing to set up the brakes, at that point I could not return the kit.
I'm pretty upset that I effectively paid in excess of $30 for a cable and housing kit that I had to buy more housing to complete my bicycle build- to top it off, the titanium housing doesn't appear to be available in bulk; I paid a premium to have nice looking housing, but I now have non-matching cables on my bike.
I sent an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (as specified in the packaging), it's been 12 days and I have not received a reply, nor even an acknowledgement of my email.
I gave a one star rating because of the lack of clear statement for the intended use of the product. Perhaps, someone buying this kit, intending to use it on their "vintage" bicycle, will find another kit that will work. Perhaps any Jagwire representative may inquire to that one star rating- and just put one small disclaimer in the packaging and advertising copy. That would be good. However, I'm also highly disappointed that Jagwire also did not bother to respond to their provided contact information.
