5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! 15 Feb 2012
Colour Name:Red| Size Name:NA|Verified Purchase
A very quick delivery, quite impressed.

I have spent a bit of time fitting these to my Claude Butler Milano today, very simple to fit - just follow the instructions provided or look on the Jagwire website for the videos.

I would recommend getting the Jagwire tool to cut the liners as they are extremly tough and hard to cut - the kit comes with some ferrules which make it all look very smart and clean and the gold coloured crimps for the cables are a nice touch.

These have made a massive difference on my bike which now has Clarkes Gold Road Pads and these cables used in conjuction with the Shimano Sora Flight-decks and Tektro brakes. There are currently set very light but are very responsive and are sharp enough to try and throw me over the bars - I am looking forward to giving them a proper try other the weekend!

I will be buying Jagwire Ripcords for my daughters mountain bike and I expecting them to be just as good as these!

Nice looking cables in the titanium but if you have a road bike or CX bike with discs that require outer all the way to the caliper don't bother ordering this set. Rear cable used most of the outer and the front barely has enough inner to get to the calipee so I ended up having to buy an extra 2m of outer and new inner. Work very well though, just a shame there's not more in the pack!

4.0 out of 5 stars I required a light coloured cable 4 April 2014
Colour Name:Titanium| Size Name:NA|Verified Purchase
I required a light coloured cable to go with a light coloured frame, the titanium colour looks cool and met my needs. It has the gear cables included which seems harder to aquire. There is sufficient cable to cover an older bike that has one long continuous brake cable to the back. You have to cut the long cables to your required length so you will require good cable cutters. The brake cables in titanium colour seemed to be slightly softer on the outers and care had to be taken when feeding through top tube cable guides as they seemed to bunch up quite easily. (like Norah Batty's stockings)

They look good and do the job - I would recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars Jagwire cable kit 3 Sep 2012
By titchy
Colour Name:Sid Blue| Size Name:NA|Verified Purchase
I bought this kit as I was building up a new frame and needed cables anyway and thought might as well colour coordinate.
The kit is available various colours and the quality seems good.
Before ordering I searched for jagwire website which contains a video of how to fit this kit. The video missed out a few details and the included instructions could be clearer.
In the end the installation of the kit took longer than fitting seperate canles, outers etc and it is more expensive than buying seperately, although everything you need apart from cable cutters is included. It does look good on the bike as the build is not finished yet I don't know how it will all work on the road.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not For Older Bicycles 17 Feb 2014
By David V. - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name:Titanium| Size Name:NA|Verified Purchase
The Jagwire products I've used have all been top notch, high quality components.

I bought the Road Pro/Racer cable & housing kit for an older road bike. This kit does not have a sufficient amount of brake housing to complete a full housing run on even a smaller framed bicycle with non-aero levers.

I understand that the vast majority of bicycles made these days have aero levers with cable routing under the bar tape. However, there is still an exceptionally large amount of bicycles with older style levers in use, all around the world. Many would benefit from Jagwire's Teflon coated cables and pre-lubed housing.

There is no disclaimer in the product packaging, nor the product descriptions, in print or online, that this kit is not compatible for "vintage" style bicycles. There is not a specification that it is only, or even just recommended for aero style levers or integrated shift/brake levers. I've spoken with several people that have had this issue, and been disappointed by the amount of housing provided in this kit. If there were a provision of "for aero levers" or "not for non-aero levers," I would consider myself at fault for not reading the packaging. However, there is no way to know, except to buy the kit. I did not discover this until I opened the package and had actually cut the housing for the shifters and was preparing to set up the brakes, at that point I could not return the kit.

I'm pretty upset that I effectively paid in excess of $30 for a cable and housing kit that I had to buy more housing to complete my bicycle build- to top it off, the titanium housing doesn't appear to be available in bulk; I paid a premium to have nice looking housing, but I now have non-matching cables on my bike.

I sent an email to info@jagwireusa.com (as specified in the packaging), it's been 12 days and I have not received a reply, nor even an acknowledgement of my email.

I gave a one star rating because of the lack of clear statement for the intended use of the product. Perhaps, someone buying this kit, intending to use it on their "vintage" bicycle, will find another kit that will work. Perhaps any Jagwire representative may inquire to that one star rating- and just put one small disclaimer in the packaging and advertising copy. That would be good. However, I'm also highly disappointed that Jagwire also did not bother to respond to their provided contact information.

Thank you,

Dave

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Replacement for Shimano Cables 1 Nov 2009
By beathiswon - Published on Amazon.com

These work as well as the Shimano Dura Ace shifter cables. Brake cables have a little more firm feel to them than the Shimano's which makes braking easier to modulate. Ferrules with an o-ring seal, frame proctectors for the outer cable casing and rubber cable grommets are also included which is a nice bonus. Overall I'd say these are a better choice than the stock Shimano cable set and less expensive too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, complete kit - but not ideal for SRAM 27 Jan 2010
By Bill - Published on Amazon.com
Verified Purchase
The housings and cables offered in the kit are high quality, and color choice is kind of a cool feature as well. The housing is compressionless, and one thing I especially liked about it is the brake housing is similar in design to standard derailluer cable housing, meaning it's made from longitudinal strands instead of hard coiled flat strands like you see in other brake cable housings. This makes cutting it easier since you don't have to grind flush or otherwise manipulate the brake housing. I would have given this 5 stars, except that the jagwire "POP" ferrules don't work with SRAM brakes very well. I can see them being awesome for shimano brakes, where normally a ferrule doesn't fit into the barrel adjuster, but on SRAM, where the adjuster is wider and made to fit a ferrule already, they actually make the connection less secure rather than more. So, I had to reuse my SRAM ferrules, but other than that, the cables and housing work great, and came with everything you need.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Control or just unlucky? 24 Mar 2013
By p2k - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name:Carbon Silver| Size Name:NA|Verified Purchase
Mechanically they are great and I have no issues with the functionality of the product.

Quality Control wise, I cannot say the same. First of all, the derailleur cables and brake cables that I got were different shades. Not a huge difference, but one is definitely a few shades lighter than the other. Secondly even on the same cable, there are patches where its visibly lighter than the rest of the cable. (No I am not talking about the branding) The smoky transparent coating over the braid has sections where its 100% clear, and not smoky at all. I built up my bike indoors and didnt notice till I got outside.

This is on the product with the new packaging with the new name "ROAD PRO" not as pictures in the description. If I noticed right away, I would probably ask for an exchange, but now that I spent a few hours putting it together, its not worth the effort.
