4.0 out of 5 stars An nice Amish tale... 27 Sep 2012
By C. Long
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this- it was a pleasant read, but nothing spectacular.

I enjoy fiction set in the Amish communities, and have read a few books in this genre- this certainly wasn't the best, although it was a nice take on the Amish romance...

The action centres around Lizzie, who left her Amish community after becoming pregnant after a date rape, and the man she loved, Jacob. 10 years later, Lizzie returns to the community to escape problems in her Englisch life, and finds Jacob a widower... events and a misunderstanding throw them into unexpectedly close proximity... how will things work out for them?

Nicely written, though shorter than I was expecting (the Kindle version has the first two chapters of the next book in the series at the end)... I've not decided whether I'll continue to read the series, as it will soon add up- but this was enjoyable enough!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good potential, not fulfilled 16 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found certain aspects of this book interesting as i find the Amish culture intriguing, and the storyline has great potential. However the book is very short and it skipped throughout important moments and events at such a pace that I didn't feel like I connected with the characters as well as I would have like to. I also found the sporadic use of Amish words a little bit tokenistic. The first two chapters of the next book were at the end of this one but I didn't bother to read them. Enough said.

I was looking forwards to this book, but it was not well written, characters and plot had no depth, this was more of a young childs read than an adult read, sorry for the negative review, but very dissapointed.

Having never read this author before I did enjoy reading this book, it is a gentle love story set in the, Amish community which give an insight into the community and their daily lives.

Very well written, most people have probably heard of the Amish but maybe like me never really understood their lives and values this book gives you that insight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old fashioned romance. 4 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A delightful story with only a few spelling errors to distract me. I have to confess to being a little too aware of spellings mistakes at times. However I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful romance novel and will look forward to reading more in the series.
