When you have the likes of Peter Erskine, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Don Alias and Jaco Pastorius on stage together it seems churlish, if not down-right heretical, to start criticising. However, the performance on this DVD simply falls short of what you would expect from these jazz giants. Everyone plays well and there some excellent moments, but these are musicians who, at their best, are incidenciary and that magic is lacking here. It doesn't help that absolutely no atmosphere at all is created by either the lighting or camera-work, and the shots of the audience are down-right scary - a crowd of bearded men who all look like they're related to one another. This DVD is a great historical document but is for die-hard Jaco fans only - and of course there are still millions of us!
