Jackie Strikes Again! This set continues the tradition of terrific value and huge enjoyment of previous Jackie collections. With the exception of the Cassidy tunes (copyright 2001, newer recordings)all of the songs I knew going in are ORIGINAL recordings and the sound is GREAT.

In comparison with Volumes I and II of the Jackie legacy, I'd say this Volume comes across as the most soulful and rocking of the lot. Perhaps a bit more Adult Contemporary than the first two volumes. This is a resounding "plus" if the listening audience is more into "classic rock" and soul, ready for Elton, and not so appreciative of, say, "Fancy Pants" by Kenny.

For me, however, that purely fun, pop n' crazy stuff like "Sugar Baby Love" by the Rubettes or "Guilty" by the Pearls or, you got it, "Fancy Pants" are my wheelhouse where the Jackie Albums are concerned. When I shop at the Jackie "Supermarket", I head straight for the candy aisle---Bay City Rollers, Osmonds, Showaddywaddy, Rubettes, etc.. The masters of great pop music at its best. Four-star harmony, superb production, 100% enjoyment without regard for counting calories or high brow artistic merit. But, still, top-flight records!

This "2010 Annual" has great pop, no question about it (The Rollers, Showaddywaddy, and the Rubettes do stop by!). But there's more "substance" than "fluff" on this 3-CD set. And while all of the tunes are great and come from the same era and charts, I personally find myself wishing for a little more of the wondrous joy of the first two volumes. It's a matter of personal taste. But the more mature stuff is readily available all over the map. My equation is: Jackie Albums = Pop + Fun! .

Final Tally on this "2010 Annual": Sound Quality: 5 stars. Like all Jackie sets, first rate production.

I tend to buy CD's like this that come in series, I feel that once I've started, I have to carry on. Anyway, enough of my buying habits, this is another in an excellent series put out by EMI TV in conjunction with the girls magazine/comic, Jackie. It follows on the good work on the previous items, if you were to categorise it, it would have to be glam rock. And there is no shortage of pictures on all of the sets, and this one, of David Cassidy, Osmonds etc. A typical mix of glam rock era favourites, along with one or two tracks from the late sixties, but these will be known as they are all big hits. There are 69 tracks on this latest set, many good tracks, but the stand out ones for me are Journey by Duncan Browne, Pinball by Brian Protheroe, a Cook/Greenaway composition called Softly Whispering I Love You by The Congregation featuring the incredible voice of Brian Keith, Forever by Roy Wood, who should be recognised by the Queen in the New Year Honours for his contribution to music over the years. But lets save the best (in my opinion) till last - the debut hit by The New Seekers, Never Ending Song Of Love, featuring the amazing under rated talent of Eve Graham, one of the best, if not the best looking women in seventies pop. I would have given it 5 stars, but due to the inclusion of certain tracks that I didn't like then, and I've not changed my mind now, it's 4 stars. Good price too.

I sneakily bought the first album from a good old fashioned record shop under the pretence of getting it for a niece or something. I absolutely loved it - so many great tunes from my teenage years. Even though many of them were originally aimed at girls rather than blokes, they still sound great and take me way back to my youth. And now my wife has bought me the new one for Christmas. It is one of the best presents I got. How can you put a price on memories? Each and every song takes me back, gets me singing at the top of my embarrassing out of tune voice and I even did a little no-Dad dance. If you were brought up in the seventies, buy all of the Jackie albums - they are bloody fantastic!

Now I love the musuc from this era and I own the other Jackie - The Album albums and the Vintage Cheese albums as well as a host of individual artists so I did think that there would be very little here that I did not already have but I was soooo wrong. Lots of little gems popped up thatI hadn't heard in years! There is even a Gilbert O Sullivan and his tracks are hard to get unless you want his whole (pricey) album. Good sound quality too. Pure nostalgia.

Bought this CD for my wife, she thinks its great and wanted me to copy it to her MP3 player. So I have done so, Strange thing is that on my Windows media player it shows up as Jackie the Album Vol 2 with the playlist from that album. The actual music on the CD is as should be. Great songs.

Jackie brought back special childhood memories for the wife - she already had the first album, which I got sick of hearing at Christmas. Then she asked for the new one as well! I gave it and bought it, she really likes it, lots of her old favourite tunes, but now on CD not vinyl - so she can play them load in her car (lound as she wants). She is very happy with her present (Birthday), so i am happy that she is!!
