I've already read 4 books on JRT and this is the best. Concise, accurate and very well laid out. Has enough info to start off a new owner! New JRT owners should read this before buying!

I found this book to be very helpful. I read the whole book and sometimes refer to it when I have a question or someone else has a question. She portrays the JRT very well and this is definitely the book for people who are thinking of getting a JRT. It outlines what to expect from this breed of dog and tells you how to handle some situations that arise. I'm glad I had this book when my female came into heat and had her first litter. It was a guide for me as I did not know what to expect. Very well written.

This is one of the best books I've read about JRs. I decided to check out as many books as I could on Jack Rusells before I became an owner of one. I viewed and read over 20 books through my local library service. This book is one of only two, that I have ended up buying, that I know I will use time and again as my puppy grows

Jack Russell Terriers: Complete Owner's Guide (Complete Pet Owner's Manual)
This book is brilliant, It is a nice read even for those who love the dogs but are unable to have them. It is a smiley book beautiful photos of puppies and older dogs. The Jack Russell is bright intelligent fiesty and determined so an owner needs to let him know who is boss (hard to do with such a cute breed) and this book explains clearly the best way to do this.
It tells of the highs and the lows of Jack Russell ownership explaining potential problems with health and behaviour.
I am not an new Jack owner but this book has shown me the best way to deal with my new puppy I am really pleased that I bought this book it is not a dull text book it is a book that you keep picking up and flicking through because it seems clear that the author loves Jack Russells and it is a joy to read.

Format: Paperback
I've been reading quite a bit about Jack Russells lately for my JRT hobby website (this is my 2nd review for Amazon) and I have to say that most of the books are pretty good and cover the same basic information. Things like how to choose a pup, how to puppy-proof your home, and the basics of healthcare.

Ms. Coile's book differs from the Pavia book (review 1)--What about Jack Russell Terriers?: The Joys and Realities of Living with a JRT-- in that it goes into much more detail about 'conformation', or the standards of the ideal JRT according to the powers that be, and it's much more nicely put together. The paper is nice and the design is pleasing.

This book is also written with a gentle and intelligent humor, which goes far in my book. And it should be noted that it's written from an American point of view (particularly when it comes to the clubs).

This book paints a dark view of the jack russell but thats a good thing i think,if it doesn't put you off owning one then when you do get better behaviour its a bonus.
It certainly lets you know what you could expect if YOU don't do the training right.
You'll be prepaired for the worst haha.
