I like it!!, 25 Jul 2006
Here's my 2 pennies worth.
Received my juicer over the weekend and started juicing immediately. For someone who does not drink fresh juices regularly, I am impressed with the quality and the amount of juice the juicer chucked out. My children love it. Cleaning is easy enough. Best to clean when the pulps are fresh - that way, they just rinse off. One tip is to place a food bag in the pulp collector. When you finished juicing - you only to life the bag and bin it straight away. The infomercial is true to a certain extend - instead of having snack between meals - grab a big glass of fresh juice instead. It does fill you up! My only `worry' is the natural sugar in the fruits - so sweet. The instruction booklet is handy. Do read it. I would recommend the juicer to anyone who is into healthy living.

Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Express, 4 Aug 2006
Before I invested in a Juicer I gathered as much information as possible, reading as many reviews as were available. I bought a Jack Lalanne juicer initially through a shop on eBay but didn't get on with having to remove the blade each time with the blade-removing appliance nor the fact that the machine was too bulky to fit underneath the kitchen wall cupboard properly so sold it on. Within a couple of weeks I was missing the delicious taste of home-made juice so much that I started looking around for another one and found the Breville stainless steel juicer (JE3 or JE8) which would look really good with my other stainless steel appliances and was small enough to fit under the cupboards. However, I then saw the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Express which was a little more compact that my previous one. I decided in the end to go with the juicer that I already had previous experience of (Jack Lalanne)and also because I had read that it was very difficult to obtain replacement parts through Breville. No good having a good looking appliance if you can't repair it. Anyway, it arrived .. although a bit smaller than the previous model, it is still a white lump of a machine but having said that it works really well. The blade and surrounding mesh just lift out for easy cleaning. I used to put the plastic bag in the pulp receptacle but don't even bother with that now as once you tip it out, a quick rinse under the tap is all it needs, although I usually rinse everything immediately after use and then wash in soapy water when I'm ready. I tend to stick with the same juice each day as I love it! It's not to everyone's taste ... 5 oranges, 3 apples, 2 carrots, 2 sticks of celery, small bunch of grapes, a few strawberries and finally a big handful of spinach (for iron) which I pop in the feeder chute and then push through with an orange (otherwise the spinach just tends to get thrown out into the pulp collector). This concoction makes a large amount of juice - some of which I drink immediately and the rest I store in the fridge in a glass jug with cling film over the top.
The only thing I have found to be a bit annoying with this machine is that it judders quite a lot with apples which triggers the safety cutout - but maybe other machines do this as well? Anyway, I'm very happy with the machine and hope this review is helpful to anyone out there trying to make a decision. P.S. Juicing is quite expensive but the taste is brilliant - unlike anything I have ever bought in a supermarket, even the so-called 100% Fresh Juices not made from concentrate.

Do something for the most important person on this Earth....YOU!, 17 Aug 2006
We've all seen it, the Informercial for the Jack Lalanne Power Juicers. They are comedy gold, yet draw you towards the product at the same time.
I always wanted 1, but the reviews for the original Power Juicer are so mixed I opted not to get that model. I decided to go with the Russell Hobbs Juice Lady at first, but that piece of crap died the first time I used it. So back to Jack. I read alot of good reviews on the Express model and seeing it for such a great deal in an Amazon shop, I ordered 1.
It is awesome. It is much much quieter than other juicers I have seen. It runs so smooth you're expecting it to take off. Judders a little when some fruits and veges are going in, but I think that was more me pushing too hard on the plunger. Just take it slow and it'll be fine.
The large spout really is a great feature, I was dropping whole oranges into it and there was still space. The pulp container contains alot of pulp, so need to empty it until you have completely finished juicing. There is some pulp left inside the machine when done, but nothing major, it does a fairly good job of ensuring it gets rid of the waste.
Clean-up is always a big issue with juicers, I found clean-up with the Power Juicer Express absolutely fine. I'm a 21 year old guy so cleaning up is not my thing, I hate it and I'm useless at it, but the power juicer comes apart easilly and as long as you just rinse everything off before it dries thats all you need do. I cleaned it, dried it and put it back together in about 5 minutes and that was my first time, I'll get quicker from there.
The juice tastes great, reasonably smooth with some "juicy bits". If froth settles, just stir the juice up and that makes things as smooth as possible.
Something to remember, this machine is very safety conscience, make sure you put it together perfectly so everything is lined up, else it will not start, it is designed that way.
It does take a decent ammount of fruit or veges to get a class or two of juice, that is not the Power Juicers fault, the pulp is quite dry like the informercial said, but unless you want to spend 3 grand on a top of the line commercial juicer you really need to expect some waste.
I haven't tried any of the recipes for the pulp yet, I will do. However I ate some left over orange pulp and I didn't really find that it had much flavour, maybe the flavour is all in the juice?.
To summarise:
I highly recomend you buy this juicer. Its sturdy, the express model is reasonably compact. It has a power motor that is pretty quiet. The juice tastes great. It processes the waste well. You CAN buy replacement blades/filter system, which is very important. Also if you shop around you an get this great product for like half of the retail price.
I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT! THANKS JACK!!!
