This is delightful and just begs to be made into an animated movie. Who else could do justice to descriptions like, 'The Forest of a Thousand Sniffs', and 'Kennelworth Castle, a vast mansion who's walls are made of sausages'.
Our hero may only be a humble black labrador, but as he bravely battles against the odds, he portrays all the noble qualities of the bravest, toughest action movie star.
Maybe Jack will have a romance with a cute brown labrador in the sequel? It makes you wonder what their puppies will look like? I'm panting in anticipation.
Roll on Jack 2.

Jack - King of the Dogs invites you into an enthralling world where animals communicate with each other and one very special little boy. It's a gripping read for children who will have no doubt it's possible for animals to talk, and for adults who'd love to believe they can.
Evocative language and a delightful imagination make this a real page-turner, and a book that will change your view on animals for ever.
It's engaging escapism that will have you smiling all the way through. And in years to come it'll be a dog-eared book your children will want to pass on to their children.
A real classic.

Jack King of the Dogs took 10-year-old James and me on a magical journey to a doggie world where good fights evil and bravery, loyalty, kindness, truth and humour shine through. Highly amusing, although heart-wrenching in parts, it is a wonderfully gripping story that you and your children will want to read over and over again. In fact, this brilliant book has all the ingredients to make a great classic movie. You read it here first.

Although this book was bought for my 11 year old daughter, I thought I would have a quick read! Well a quick read entailed sitting on the sofa all afternoon gripped by Jacks adventure. I cried I laughed and cant wait for Sheila Molloys next "childrens book"
Oh and by the way I have just ordered a new copy for my daughter she refused to read my tear stained and worn copy. I cant wait for her response.

This book started off so well and was a lovely read right up to the last chapter. The violent end for Jack, by mum’s boyfriends hand was too much for me. I realise children need to understand that animals die but I thought this went over the top. I bought this as a present for a boy who would love to be able to talk to my black lab. Luckily I read it first as I can only imagine how devastated he would have been at Jacks demise regardless of the fact that it allowed him to be King of Dogs.
