DVD Description

Following the huge success of his sell out 100 date UK tour, the nation's favourite deadpan stand-up comedian returns to the Hammersmith Apollo to deliver some of his most scathing and hilarious material for years. Jack's riotous set includes blistering attacks on everything from Kendal Mint Cake to D.I.Y. stores, while his side-splitting observations on family life will become an instant classic. It's a wild, rude and hilarious ride, so strap yourself in for the funniest DVD release of the year.

I am a big fan of Dee, have seen him live and own all of the stand up releases.
However I was disappointed to find that in the first 15 mins he was repeating jokes from earlier DVDs. This did stop me from getting into gear with him. The jokes about the Hammersmith elbow, the pole vaulter and the irish "what'll it be?" can all be found on earlier vids.
He does revisit some old themes but these are sometimes hit and miss. I also thought it was a bit overlong compared to the other releases.
The "Live in London 97" is an excellent buy and The first time I saw "Live at the Apollo 2002" and the I literally cried with laughter as he was on top form.
Go for them if you want the best.
I'll keep this in the collection but it won't be watched much. Every artist has a dip in form and he has set a very high benchmark for himself. I am sure the next one will be better.
He's still better than Jimmy Carr.

I was lucky enough to be at one of these shows on this sell out tour and I didn't stop laughing the entire night :) This DVD captures the atmosphere to a tee and will have you holding your sides as they split :) Jack Dee at his best - a must have DVD for any fan of comedy.

I've had this video in my collection for about two years now and have to RE-order a copy because it's been viewed so many times! It's true - it just keeps getting funnier. Many comics take everyday situations, attempting to imbue their observations with dry sarcasm, but Dee is the master of this genre. His demeanour screams p**s-elegance, but the 'dark side' of the foibles of his family, friends and neighbours is given a ribbing that honestly will have you in stitches. There are many 'lines' and 'faces' that people who've seen Dee in action are STILL trying to deliver at dinner parties - not to as good effect, I might add! The pace never flags, and his use of the stage at the Duke of York is nothing short of masterful. In essence, the fact that he 'knows' that his act is going to video leads to a few very well-timed lines (at the video audience's expense! ) Buy it, borrow it, steal it...and KEEP IT in your collection. This is British humour - and Jack Dee - at its very best.
