Before I review the product, I feel it necessary to correct many of the reviews which have complained about the 'fact' that you need to lug around the provided charger and "why can't you just charge from a USB port?".
The short answer is that you can easily charge from a USB port. The socket for charging the headset is a micro-USB. I guess that Jabra have moved from the old mini-USB that we all know and love to the new micro-USB since all new mobile 'phones are required to move to this standard over the next few years to reduce the waste caused by every make of 'phone having a different charger, and you getting a new charger each time you buy a new 'phone. Jabra are just slightly ahead of the pack here and have moved to the new standard already.
So how do you charge without lugging around the charger? The simple answer is that, if you already have a very modern mobile 'phone, such as the Nokia models from the last couple of years, chances are that you already have the data cable that you need to connect your mobile 'phone to your PC. If you don't already have this lead, odds are that you will get one with your next new phone. This lead is ideal for charging purposes.
If you haven't got this lead and can't wait until you get a new 'phone that comes with the lead, then you can buy the necessary lead here (
Nokia CA-101 Micro USB Data Cable ).
Just so that you can see what I mean, I have uploaded pictures of the socket on the headset and the plug on the lead so that you can see the situation for yourself.
Now about the headset itself...
It is very light and very, very comfortable. Indeed it is much more comfortable that any similar headset that I have had before, including a previous Jabra model.
The pairing is simple (code is 0000) and most 'phones automatically try this first before asking you to enter a code.
Controls are easy to find with a nice big main control button that, depending on the model of your mobile 'phone, allows you to:
- answer calls
- hand up at the end of a call
- use voice dialing (depends on your 'phone)
- last number redial (depends on you 'phone)
There are two smaller buttons to allow you to alter the volume up or down.
Going back to the issue of the charger and the connector, in case you're concerned about whether you already have the right lead, I have uploaded some pictures so that you can see the connector (and my Nokia lead) yourself.
(BTW - it has also nicely paired with my Asus netbook to allow me to use it for Skype calls as well).
Highly recommended and worth the 5 stars
