Product Description

Jabra 9470-26-904-102 - JABRA PRO 9470 MONO - MIDI-BOOM NOISE BLACKOUT UK

Manufacturer's Description

The Jabra PRO 9470 DECT wireless headset uses state of the art technology to let you answer all your phone calls, from the PC, mobile phone and office phone through the one headset.

With the Jabra PRO 9470 one headset does it all. This is thanks to Multiuse technology which allows headset connectivity to three devices simultaneously, so you can connect the headset to your office desk phone, your PC softphone and your mobile phone and calls from any of these devices come through to the same headset, you simply tap the talk button and start talking. The need for multiple headsets is now a thing of the past.

With a unique 2.4 inch touch screen base which features an intuitive SmartSetup wizard, you are walked through the connection of each phone and helped when choosing initial set up preferences. Then when you are up and running a number of colourful icons and an easy to use menu system help you to handle all aspects of call handling.

The Jabra PRO 9470 headset uses DECT technology to give you a 150 metre wireless range and uses wideband technology to give you a crisp and clear sound when the headset is used with the PC. You get an 8 hour talk time in wideband mode and a 10 hour talk time in narrowband mode. The headset sound quality is further enhanced duo core DSP technology.

Jabra SafeTone technologies protect all headset users from the harmful effects of sudden loud noises and sound spikes. PeakStop technology cuts out all sounds over a certain decibel level and IntelliTone technology helps to secure a safe average sound level throughout the working day which is fully compliant with noise at work legislation.

The headset has a cutting edge design that is both lightweight and comfortable. The Jabra PRO 9470 offers a choice of three different wearing styles. You can switch easily between these different wearing styles the headband style, neckband style and earhook style. The headband is fully adjustable to ensure a personalised fit for everyone.

The Jabra PRO 9470 features state of the art 2-microphone Noise blackout technology which virtually eliminates background noise so only the headset wearer’s voice is transmitted. This means the headset is suitable for use in the noisiest of environments.

The Jabra PRO 9470 has a record function that can be used on desk and mobile phone calls. The conversations can then be saved on a PC however an additional PC recording application is required to do this.

I have one of these from work and was using it quite happily in the office where its range, audio quality and ability to mute on the headset itself made it very very useful. Imagine those long conference calls without being able to reach the bathroom or cafeteria or mute the sound when there!

USAGE : I use it to cover all my devices:
my Avaya deskphone (an Avaya ADVD running the Flare Experience) although it does work with other vendors phones like Cisco, Alcatel Lucent etc
my PC for corporate video conferencing from the desktop using Scopia Desktop
my iPhone and iPad for softphone use on these devices, the Bring Your Own Device theme in action.
Since December 2012 I have been home based and taken the Jabra Pro 9470 with me.

PROS
I am not tethered to the desk.
I am free to get up, make tea, have lunch, answer the door, wander around thinking and talking.
Range is capable of covering the entire house, with the signal only breaking down when outside the house on the other side of the road or near the bottom of the garden (an extreme rarity but done just to test the range).
Distance wise that's about 25metres with various internal walls and 1 structural wall in between me and the base unit.
Quality is good and when wideband audio is selected and available across the communication medium (pro use) then the sound is uber crisp, but the distance seems to be limited just a tad.
Battery life is generally good (one always wants more) and I normally get through the entire business day on a single charge unless its a very very heavy conference day where I must remember to dock the headset for a few minutes whenever possible to eke out those last few minutes and not end up having to go wired.... urgh!

I bought this for the office and have it linked to Skype on my pc, my mobile via Bluetooth and my cisco IP phone via the telephone cable and the cisco specific electronic hook switch cable (which you need to buy seperately!). It is truly brilliant - any call on any device is answered on the headset, the mute control touch on the side makes it perfect for pacing round the office while on conference calls and the EHS means that on the desk phone you can hang up by pressing the button on the headset (Skype and mobile work natively this way). The range is excellent, well over 15m through walls (not something to brag about but I can make it to the toilet in our building without dropping a call - again the mute is very useful here)

It was very easy to set up and I use it every day, I've used a lot of headsets and this is the best I've ever used, no question. It is expensive but in this case I think you get what you pay for - I don't think there is anything better for the task out there and the unified comms for all 3 devices is a true winner.

I purchased this a few months ago and have really been impressed! This connects to my mobile phone, desk phone and soft phone (e.g. Skype). All three work brilliantly and save me loads of time switching between the different receivers and using my webcam as a microphone for Skype!

I had never had a wireless headset either and have really been impressed with the range - I went to my next door neighbour with the Jabra on and I could still hear perfectly!

They have also updated the system since I got this which allows me to bring up a dial pad on the little touch screen and also control the screen from my computer.

I am really impressed and would suggest anyone looking into a wireless headset buys this without hesitation!

The mic is advertised as having a noise cancelling mic suitable for "busy open plan offices" but it simply doesn't cancel out background noise at all (unlike the much older versions which were great for doing so). Furthermore on this version there is no manual adjustment available on the mic but the lower versions of the 9400 series do have, so we bought the 9450 next - which still doesn't cancel background noise effectively but it is better. Other than the mic the headset is good, comfortable, can wear all day without knowing it is there. Looks nice too. Its a great product but if you are in a call centre type environment, dont buy it.

This is an amazing piece of kit. It plugs into my desk phone, my PC AND connects to my mobile phone. So I can seamlessly go between listening to music on my computer (by changing the default sound output to Jabra Pro after connecting it via USB), to switching to a conference call, to answering a call on my phone - without ever having to take off my headset.

I personally own the double ear piece version, and it is SO comfortable. It sits so softly over my ears and the cushion keeps my ears warm - and it never gets too hot! I've never had to take it off due to it being too tight or too sweaty. I've spent maybe 8 hours with it on my head, switching between Internet Radio, conference calls and talking on the phone. The touchpad on the screen is really helpful in keeping an eye on what's connected and what the latest situation is.

The sound quality is not amazing, even when connected via USB to the computer, it's better than listening to music over the phone, but you do get that slightly grainly quality - which is perfectly fine with me because I'm used to listening to the radio so a drop in quality is no problem for me. I can still listen to the music without any problems what so ever.

The touch sensitive volume controls on the side are amazing, I can mute/unmute and volume up and down at will.

And even more amazing - the range. I left my desk, walked down the corridor, into the kitchen and helped myself to a drink - my desk is around 40m from my kitchen - with lots in the way, and the quality was the same as sitting on my desk (although you do have to amplify the range in the settings menu first).

Plus, when I in the office with my headset, everyone thinks I am on a conference call that lasts all day so no one bothers me when I have my headset on my head trying to get some work done (like writing this review...)!
