I am home based worker and spend about 60% of my time in teleconferences. I have tried (and returned) a few products supposed to improve the ease of conducting teleconferences over VOIP and Microsoft Lync. Some units were double the price of this unit but weren't great. I was starting to think that there was nothing that was going to meet my home office needs until I tried this speakerphone!

If you are looking for a USB speakerphone, you need look no further. Hands-down this is the best product by a very long way!

Good points:
# true plug and play.
# excellent speaker and mic quality... Fantastic actually (it has made it a big difference to my participation in teleconferences).
# excellent volume with very rich sound.
# amazingly sensitive mic (no complaints of metallic distortion from other meeting participants).
# tap-touch volume control and mute button with nifty indicators to show volume and mute on.
# feels well made and solid with non-slip base.
# cord wraps around base for easy packing in the pouch it comes with.
# it is small enough to be fully portable but probably not quite small enough to fit easily into a small laptop bag.

Only one minor negative comment: the "answer" and "call end" buttons didn't automatically integrate with Lync on my pc and I have to use the traditional on-screen buttons. I understand that this can be corrected with a software install but I haven't bothered because I would have to get IT to install it. Very minor comment. UPDATE: my IT department installed the Jabra software. It works very well and connects seamlessly with Lync. You can even put participants on hold. i have had this product for several months and still love it.

I spend a reasonable amount of time most days on voice-over-IP conference calls using my laptop. Before I bought this nifty device, that meant wearing a headset - and struggling to find a mute button when I wasn't talking. This device is just excellent: easy integration to my work voice-over-IP conferencing application; great speech quality without echo; easy mute and volume controls; clear speech pickup when sitting normally in my desk chair a couple of feet from the device; and best of all it's so easy to put into its case and take with me. Its not so cheap but good quality mean this nifty device is excellent value for money.

I chose the Jabra brand after previous experience with their great Bluetooth headsets, and I wasn't disappointed.

As well as working with various softphones this item also functions as a straightforward mic and speakers so that it can be used with any type of web conferencing.

We have had several remote conferences using it and the audio quality is very good, I am about to buy one if not two more.

It's a lot cheaper and more flexible than a conference phone.

Sound quality and ease of use is excellent for conferencing or as a way to amplify sound in a presentation. Very portable. Works well with Lync. I was slightly peeved to find that Jabra have brought out a later wireless version, the 510, with bluetooth (my fault for not doing my research, I know) that would have meant I could use it with my phone as well for another £20.

Really clear, works well with Lync and all my other phone/audio tools. The connect/hangup buttons dont work with Skype but thats not a major issue.

Very good sound quality, also good microphone (other side hears you loud and clear; even in difficult setting as meeting rooms). Very easy to install, within 1-2 seconds it was fully functional.

I am a professional online collaboration consultant and work virtually with teams all around the world from my home office. I have been using the Jabra Speak 410 for more than two years now on a constant basis, using it almost exclusively for VOIP discussions 5-10 times a day.

I very rarely need to use a headset these days as the sound quality from the echo-canceling microphone is so good that many can not tell I'm headset-free. For me, it makes my life much easier as I do not have to wear a headset all day to be able to talk to my colleagues and clients, but this kind of use does require a private office.

It also comes in extremely useful for small-medium meetings where several people may want to gather in a meeting room and some people may connect using online collaboration technology (Lync, Adobe Connect, Google Hangouts etc.). This enables high-quality audio to and from everyone in the meeting room with a 3-4 meter effective range on the mic.

I have tested it with many technologies with complete success - Lync, Google Hangouts, Skype, Adobe Connect, Citrix... even ChatRoulette!

I really can not recommend this item enough - is is small and portable, comes with a handy pouch for transport, extremely easy to setup (just plug and play) and provides superb audio quality from the built-in speaker and echo-canceling microphone.

If I were to pick up on areas of improvement I would say that the answer/hangup buttons that work so well with Lync would be great if they worked with Hangouts and Skype too. Also; having two microphones placed on opposite sides of the unit would be helpful in some larger meetings, but this would probably cause more issues than it solved.

I highly recommend the Jabra Speak 410.
