Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

JVC research shows that consumers' biggest problem with in-ear headphones is their tendency to fall out. The HA-FX66 headphones tackle that problem by using a soft silicon rubber air cushion for the earpiece body. The result is an in-ear headphone that stays securely in place while remaining comfortable. What's more, the design also provides superior isolation from background noise, allowing the user to get the most out of the headphone's 8.5mm neodymium driver. Noise caused by cord movement is also minimized because of the headphone's Friction Noise Reduction Cord. vibration-proof structure. The HA-FX66 includes a carrying case for easy transport.

Product Description

  • 3.28ft friction noise reduction cord

Having been duped in to buying a pair of fake creative earphones on Amazon marketplace I searched for another earphone that I could get from a more reputable dealer.

I bought a pair of these from Currys for £20 which is more expensive than online but at least I am certain of their authenticy. Well worth £20.

I had previously owned a pair of the JVC Marshmallow earphones, the memory foam buds grew mucky and brittle and broke. I always found the marshmallows never fitted quite right and my ears always hurt a lot after extended wear. Next earphones I wanted to have silicon buds.

I also wanted to wear the earphones when I go to the gym, so minimal noise transmission along the cable from fiction and knocks was a must, these fit the bill nicely and even say for sport (of which I was sceptical).

As I pushed them in to my ear for the very first time, using the supplied medium silicon buds, I was impressed by how easy the earphones fitted and how wonderfully comfortable they felt (far better than marshmallows). I was dubious about the shape of them due to the 'air cushion' gibberish but they certainly fit well.

Next thing was to play some music through them - excellent - music was absolutely fine, good clarity, and the bass is not lacking. I think the reviewers that mention the bass is weak have not managed to fit these properly and should fiddle with them more and try other ear bud sizes.

Another very good point is their cable - it is slightly thicker and sturdier than other manufacturers' (think of the cable on the Senheiser CX300s - very weak and rubbery). This cable is far superior - it is harder to tangle, feels much more durable, and best of all it minimises noise transmission to the ear. Which is always a problem with in-ear phones where if you do anything that makes the cable move or touch something you immediately hear about it.

An added bonus is 3 sizes of silicon buds AND a pair of memory foam buds should you wish to use them.

Overall I think these are top-notch for the price and will recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair of earphones in this price range.

Well worth it! 19 Sep 2008
I bought a pair of these in white in April, and they lasted me a good 4 or 5 months of solid useage. The sound quality from these is pretty good, although it does take a bit of getting used to if coming from regular earphones. The bass is powerful, and distortion (on heavier metal tracks) stays tight when it needs to be, and demonic when it has to be. It keeps unwanted sounds out very effectively, and is very hard for others around you to hear, even when at max volume.

My only gripe I have with these is that I have lost one of the squidgy earpieces for the only two sizes that fit my ears, and without replacements available, it renders them virtually useless. The holding on these pieces was very good for a while, but it eventually succumbed to wear-and-tear and they would occasionally fall off in my pocket. Although, I do put losing the pieces down to my own fault, so don't let it put you off too much.

Well worth it, especially for the price here! You won't regret this purchase, although you will never be able to go back to ordinary earphones, as I have recently discovered!

I do like these earphones, and they are the third pair I have owned. Therein lies the rub of course: my THIRD pair.

The many positives are price (seemingly cheaper each time I buy) iPhone compatibility for the jack plug, decent cord length, perfectly adequate sound / avoidance of outside noise, comfy in my ear and a great reductiuon in that horrible racket you get from some headphone cables every time they get knocked - I cannot overstate how good this is compared to some Sennheisers I once owned.

The afore-mentioned rub is... they can break. I look after them i.e. wrap them in the included case when I put them away in my bag... and yet still they can snap. Not instantly - I've had several months out of each pair, but it does happen.

Still, I find it hard to believe this would not also happen with far more expensive models, so at this price I'm sticking with these JVC. I'm no audiophile so others may have more to say about the relative sound quality, but IMHO you could do a whole heap worse.

Excellent value for money
A very nice earphone that performs very well and the 'double' ear rubbers keep out external sounds very well. I use these to drown out the sound of my spouse snoring.
