I first bought a set of these headphones a year or two ago, and they have only just worn out despite thousands of hours of use. The secret is the high quality rubber-coated flexible cable which all good earphones come with nowadays. This coating allows you to bend, twist and coil the wire with virtually zero fatigue, giving the headphones an incredibly long lifespan. Another excellent feature of the cable is the length, which allows a reasonably tall person to listen without feeling any uneccesary tugging on their ears.

The ear plugs themselves are made of a durable, water resistant and sound-absorbing foam which becomes more malleable (squishy) as it warms up in your ear. This allows a very comfortable fit which moulds to your ear, but which will return to its original shape when not in use. Since the foam fits your ear canal perfectly, it excludes most outside noise and hence the quality sound is naturally increased. Even at very low volume settings (i rarely needed to set my Creative ZEN 4GB MP3 Player above 50%), these efficient headphones will provide the listener with clear sound, saving on valuable battery life! Fantastic value, and just as good as any £50 earphones i have tried too.

I have never posted a product review on Amazon before, however on this occasion I feel moved to endorse this product with a whole 5 stars!

After reading other reviews on the site I was persuaded that these JVC `Marshmallow' ear buds would significantly reduce external noise in addition to providing excellent sound quality to my music - I was interested to see if that was in fact the case.

My almost daily predicament is that I share my work area with a colleague whose voice is that of a banshee given to frequent bouts of excitability. There is nothing that can quite describe the ear grating and brain shattering howl that emanates from this person on frequent and unscheduled occasions. To listen to her `talk' with people is simply a torture on most occasions.

Not any longer - now thanks to the JVC HAFX23AN ear buds my day can pass in an almost Zen like silence. In fact as I type this review I am watching the wailing yab-yab-yabbing of my colleague's mouth as her annoying jaw yo-yo's up and down - up and down. But all I can hear is my music. Bliss!!

I can give no stronger recommendation than this.

I have always previously used the excellent creative labs ep630 in ear headphones, as I listen exclusively to heay rock music and the ep630s handle deep bass with ease. I find it can sometimes be a long process to get the buds settled properly in the ear to benefit from the sound, and thought I might purchase a cheap set of these JVC 'phones and transplant the 'marshmallow' buds onto my ep 630's. I wasn't really interested in using the JVC's, as I'd read the reviews saying that they are unreliable and more worryingly for me, tinny. When mine arrived I popped them in to see how tinny they were before I pulled them apart. Well, contrary to the popular view, I was amazed by these earphones. They are unbelievably comfortable and fit superbly into my lugs, and the sound quality is superb. They offer a really deep punchy bass sound with no distortion, and the mid range and treble are well defined and crisp. The overall sound quality is well balanced, but driven by that powerful bottom end punch. Maybe it's just that these happen to fit my ears perfectly, or maybe other reviewers mp3 players do not suit these earphones, my mp3 player is the Philips 16gb go-gear opus which does reproduce a great bass sound, and these earphones enhance the performance considerably, even more than the ep630's mentioned earlier.
The purpose of this reveiw is to balance the many less than positive reviews posted about the product. They nearly stopped me buying them, and my listening experience would have been the poorer for it.

Hardest wearing earphones i've ever bought, these have even survived going through the washing machine and tumble dryer without too much damage.

I bought these earphones to use while I work outside, and they perform admirably!

Before you even turn the sound on, the squishy 'marshmallow' part of the earpieces exclude a lot of ambient noise, acting much like earplugs. Due to the way the earpieces nestle right inside your ear they are also very comfortable, don't fall out easily, and deliver the sound efficiently. Perfect for when I'm mowing the lawn, etc.

As previous reviewers have said, I don't need to have the volume as high as when using conventional earphones. This probably allows me an extra 20 or 30 mins of battery life. I can quite happily listen to music through the Marshmallows while other people watch the TV in the same room.

The sound quality is very pleasing too. The sound is crisp and clear, with plenty of bass. They only sound tinny if you don't push them into your ear far enough.

Overall, the Marshmallows are great value and I'd be happy buying them again.

This is my 3rd pair as they are the best earphones I've owned (and I've owned ALOT!).

The spongy earpiece allows for a great fit which is secure in your ear but doesn't feel like it's stretching your ear apart like some solid earphones. The sound quality is great and for the price Amazon is selling them you better hurry as these are going up in price in shops (HMV = £20, Asda = £15).

Only one little thing is that the cable is a little short. I'm 6ft 1 and sometimes when I wear trousers with deep pockets the earphone is only just reaching my ear. But apart from that these are amazing.
