Book Description

26 Jan 2011
JUST FOR THE RECORD; represents several years spent studying anything relating to early recordings. This involved listening to numerous old phonograph records and cylinders. Finally I have found the time to collate this information together in some kind of order, to assist throw a little light on the earliest period of recording from inception to the 'Great Depression.I have concentrated on many smaller, more obscure record manufacturers I also have compiled information which will assist the collector to identify a particular session or date a recording was made and have included listings of the pseudonyms of many early performers. Descriptions of some of the earliest recordings ever made, and of the development of cylinder manufacturing , the output of early record companies ers and their repertoire. An overview of the history and development of sound recording is also included together with some eccentric ancient ideas about developing sound , is explored up to a point in time when the art of recording became a reality. I hope the record collector, will enjoy reading this as much as I did compiling this information.
