I enjoyed JPR's autobiography. For me it gave an insight into the Grand Slam Welsh team of the 70's. I do not really want a blow by blow account of every game, but an overview of games, seasons and tours. I have to say I had forgotten altogether the controversy that surrounded JPR concerning his first book, but I felt that he dealt with this occurence in an objective way, as far as it is possible to be objective when you are directly involved.
I felt that JPR wrote intelligently, and expressed his views about the various situations he found himself in. I was particularly interested to read how he combined two very demanding occupations-medecine and international rugby.
I felt his views on the modern game were intertesting. It is always easy to rubbish change, which I do not think JPR does, but puts in question marks about the game's development, and as a product of 70's rugby, I tend to agree with him strongly.A good book that covers all the information and views that I would want to read about from a Welsh rugby union player who was much admired for his play in a very successful Welsh and Lions teams.
