Product Description

Product Description

JOYO AC tone pedal based on the AV-30 tube amplifier that, with a little help from two mop-top multi-instrumentalists, revolutionized the electric guitar sound, the JOYO ac tone pedal really rocks our age. The fab sound is easy to nail with this little tone machine. Featuring endless controls, bypass wiring and components of only the highest quality, the pedal can put in more than a hard day's work. AC-30 has 6 knobs, Many combinations are possible. This pedal can make your clean sound sparkle by thickening the midrange and adding as much top end bite as you can take (or take away), while the distortion it offers is straight out of the USSR. The ac tone pedal from JOYO really captures something usually missing from most modern guitar sounds: subtle to aggressive warmth and a natural sounding overdrive. With the unique "voice" control you can dial in never before heard tones. Level and drive controls add incredible range, while the 3-band eq offers even more flexibility when it comes to getting an original sound. Definitely holds its own in any pedal chain, especially for guitar players with the desire to blend new and old.

4.0 out of 5 stars get the sound without the cost!!!!! 14 July 2012

this the second jOYO pedal i have bought from amazon having previously bought the american tone pedal. what i have found is that for the very small price you get a great addition to your guitar sounds. having 6 controls it has great versatility in adjusting your tone and given practice you can easily recreate a tone sounding close to the suggested amp, in this case the vox ac-15/30 range.
i tend to use it as a trim before sending it to a dedicated amp modelling channel on a multi fx unit but i have used it straight from guitar into amp and it does work well.
overall its not the best but it is more than worth its price and a great addition to hobbying guitarists like me who like trying to get new tones without paying 5x the price

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant amp-like pedal 5 Oct 2013

I got my Joyo AC13 AC Tone and I had a good go at it.

It's so funny. The box is black with big neo letters that read "PEDAL".LOL . Instructions are very poor and written in pidgin English at best. Useless, really.

I first plugged it into a Roland keyboard combo. Not bad but there was an annoying 'glitch'happening in the high end when I pushed the guitar hard. Like a distorting note.
Uhmmm...

Then I plugged it into a cheapish Marshall Basstate (solidstate) bass amp with a single 12" speaker.

This amp sounded much better and the glitch was gone. I set the amp's EQ flat and the sound started to resemble a true VOX amp.

First I tried to go for a Brian May overdriven kind of tone. Well, I wasn't too impressed. There is a lot of gain available but also loads of hiss and noise. Also the pedal sounded constipated and lacking the dynamics of the real thing.

I backed down the gain and character and soething magical happened. I found the tone for this pedal! All of a sudden I found tones that were not only useable but very, very good too.

Creedence swagger? no problem
REM jangly arpeggios? yep
early the Who? Absolutely
Tom Petty crunch? Voilà!
U2's the Edge's shimmering tones? Yeah!
Gallagher blues? Granted!
Even some AC-DC tones!!

Some lessons I learnt:

This pedal's EQ knobs are very effective. A tiny movement either way will transform your sound. Not at all like the typical amp tonestack. More like the parametric EQ at the mixing desk.

Lower gain settings sound more natural and convincing than high gain (this pedal has loads of gain!)

For the money it is a bargain. Everybody who likes the AC tone should have one! A brilliant piece of analog equipment for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars For the money, awesome 23 Jan 2014

I wasn't expecting much for my money on this, but was pleasantly surprised.

It sounds awesome for anything from jangly Beatles stuff to full bore Brian May top boost sounds.

Didn't bother to go through my effects loop, I went straight in the front end.

It gets a little noisy with voice and gain all the way up, but I've never used a od/distortion pedal that doesn't.

Joyo JF-13 AC Tone Low Mid High frequency response Distortion & Drive Guitar effects pedalJust to follow on from my previous review - this is the best overdrive pedal I have EVER owned. And this comes up against some stiff opposition, namely, Rat (the original classic), Aria, Blackstar valve pedals, Vox Tonelab (this pedal out-voxes Vox!!!),etc. Do yourself a huge favour - try this pedal out!!! It is extremely versatile and can go from classic cleans and overdrive to heavy rock and metal (with the right guitar). I now own a quality noise gate pedal which eliminates noise issues in the recording scenario.

5.0 out of 5 stars AC Tone at home.....without going deaf!! 22 Jun 2014

I developed a liking (massive understatement) for the Vox AC15 and 30 when I had a Pod HD Pro which I ditched and replaced with a Tubemeister 18 EL84 amp. It sounded a teeny bit like an AC but even on the 1W setting drive sounds were too loud for home use though it did sound more real than the Pod.

I saw a couple of reviews and blind tests of these Joyo amp modellers and some guys were even using them in preference to amps on their albums. So I bought the AC clone and the Fender Deluxe clone and I have to say I am staggered at how good they are. The Fender clone is really good but its not anyway near as much fun as the AC. I run the Joyo AC into a mixer with an fx send/return and then in to my audio interface. I have a set of Logitech Z2300 THX 200W 2.1 powered speakers. These sell used for about 20 and they are great for playback. I use headphones for mixing due to room acoustics. The AC tone delivers amazing tones and flexibility. I'm sure there are some guys that would nitpick and tell you that it doesn't really sound like a real AC30 at full tilt but how would they know? If they played an AC30 at full tilt in my home studio then they would be completely deaf or have life membership of the GITS (Guitar induced tinnitus society).

This is basically a guitar amp in a pedal. It is flexible enough to be your main amp. The digital modelling brands are probably sitting with their heads in their hands. The KPA was converting many valve amp diehards to digital. The Joyo AC is converting them back to analogue.

This is a great pedal that can go from the mildest overdrive to a good loud in your face OD. The one thing that stands out is the picking dynamics....its brilliant, just like playing an amp. Very well made. I can also recommend the Sweet Baby overdrive by JoYo too.
