This product helps make salt and seasonings stick to air popped corn. Without some type of oil most of the salt and seasonings fall to the bottom of the bowl. The nice thing about this product is that the spray is a fine mist so you don't end up with really greasy popcorn unless you want it that way and keep spraying for a long time. Several light sprays will help make the seasonings stay on the air popped corn. This company has several finely ground salts and seasonings such as Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning Cheese Lovers Variety Pack of 6 that are pretty tasty and work well with this product.

The only problem I have with this product is it's nutritional labeling which I think is misleading. A serving size is "1/3 of a second spray" and is shown as 0 calories. But who is going to spray a bowl of popcorn for only 1/3 of a second, and how would one even time that? Perhaps 1/3 of a second would be enough for about 10 kernels of popped corn but I wouldn't consider that a normal serving. So if you want it to be calorie-free where on that big bowl of popcorn are you going to put that 1/3 of a second spray? The ingredients are shown as: Corn Oil, Sunflower Oil, Canola Oil, Salt, Natural butter Flavor, Beta Carotene for color propellant, Contains Milk. The total weight of the can is 2.5 ounces. There are 242 servings in the can. An ounce of corn oil is 251 calories. Because there is salt and flavoring so as well as the oils, an ounce of it is probably somewhat less than 251 calories. At any rate it isn't 0. And the amount needed for a bowl of popcorn isn't 0 either.

I've tried flavouring my popcorn without the spray and it tastes really powdery and not much seasoning actually sticks to the popcorn. However, the spray really works (to be honest I was a bit doubtful at first, then I read a few reviews), but well worth it. I've only tried it once so far but I think next time I'll have to control the spray a little better (some pieces got lots of seasoning on and others not so much)

Picked up a selection of the Kernels range to enhance my newly found love of popcorn with mixed results:
Just copying and pasting the results across the reviews, if like me you're trying to pick a flavour.

Sour Cream and Onion - 4/5
Definite favourite, really nice taste, and can't work out how I'd do it myself
Seemed to use less of the flavouring to get a decent tasting bowl than the others.

Salt and Vinegar - 3/5
Nearly there. Like the flavour, but as has been mentioned by others to get a nice strong vinegar taste, you end up choking on cloud of vinegar powder. If you spray on more 'fixer' this helps more powder stick, but to get it to how I'd want it, I'd end up using half the can.

Caramel - 2/5
Tried dark icing sugar (nice, but not quite 'caramel') and making proper caramel (can't quite work out how to get a little bit on all the corn) so thought I'd give this a try. Result was pretty similar to my icing sugar attempt (and looking at the ingredients I can see why). Maybe a slightly better result, but frankly not worth the extra cost.

Popcorn Spritzer - 1/5
It's basically just your standard oil spray you can pick up in any supermarket for much less. Despite the protestations of the description and list of ingredients, I couldn't detect any butteryness at all. Whilst it does help the flavours stick better, it's not the adhesive transformation I was hoping for. To actually get a decent amount of most of the flavours to stick, you end up using quite a bit (and frankly, if I'm going to do this I'd much prefer to pour over melted butter).

It has a weird aftertaste and smell kind of like old butter. Not sure that it was not an old can.

Fry light does the same job for a fraction of the price.
With no difference to the taste or texture of the popcorn.

Can arrived about 20% full. The tin is five times larger than the content.

Feel a little ripped off to be honest, unless this is a manufacturing mistake which I doubt then it's incredibly expensive for what it is.
