Don't waste your money, it looks ridiculous, its flimsy and really a total waste of money. I bought this because I do not use flash very often and thought I could save the price of a proper flash

I bought two of these, one for my Nikon, and one for my daughter's Canon 350D. On the Nikon it's a great piece of kit for the money and gives really good results, but it won't work on the Canon. The Canon hotshoe has a little microswitch which detects if something is fitted to it and then disables the on board flash! (This is a problem encountered by Canon owners if they try to fit a hotshoe cover!)
It comes with a little extra bit of plastic that you can see in the photo, which I though was there to solve this problem, but after much fiddling, I couldn't see for the life of me how it would work!

So on the Nikon, brilliant! A few quid and great results! On the Canon, doesn't work!

It works ok as a diffuser but the quality of the plastic used in the support, the black part, is very bad.
I don't think you will leave this tool mounted and at my first use..... I already broke one of the pins that fix the black support on the screen!

First the good.
Item arrived in sealed package. As described. Adequate quality. Assembled easily and parts firmly stayed fixed together. Fitted to my camera hot shoe easily and stayed firmly attached. Several holes available on the translucent diffuser lens to adjust to suit my camera correctly.
Now the not so good.
Only problem is when it is fitted to my camera hot shoe it deactivates the cameras built in flash. I found by slightly modifying the flash diffuser hot shoe mount I was able to overcome this. Of course this has invalidated my guarantee so unless you are sure how to make this modification the flash diffuser may be not good for you.
Otherwise pleased with my purchase.

Bit of flimsy plastic and not very stable in use. Ditched it in favour of a separate flashgun using bounce flash.

Bought this item to fit a canon 550d and it dissapoints me a lot that it very poorly fits this camera.
When mounting it pushes the flash downwards unless you pull it all the way to back of the blitz mount to a level were it goes unwary. And should you choose to ignore this and mount it as it is suppose to, then the camera sometimes register a blitz, and hence the inbuild flash won't fire.

May work for other cameras but cannot be recommended for canon 550d

I was only able to use this a couple times on my Canon XTi. First of all the arms do not attach to the diffuser properly, very loose and unstable. Secondly and most importantly the plastic bit that slides into the hot shoe doesn't fit I had to shave it down. Not fun at all. Thirdly I can't slide that thingy all the way in the hot shoe, something to do with the contacts being pushed doesn't allow the flash to work, so I had to sit it further back on the seat and and fiddle around until I could get the flash to fire. The plastic is cheap and the look its self is not very appealing. On the bright side, it did diffuse the onboard flash pretty well for what its worth.
