The author, Nathaniel Merritt, has been hitchhiking to Enlightenment since he was a teen. Becoming a Jehovah's Witness at fifteen, he was later shunned by them at nineteen for smoking pot and having sex. In 1973, he was born again as a Jesus Freak. This spiritual renewal led him to become a Baptist minister in 1980, where he remained for fifteen years. Then he dove into the deep waters of Zen Buddhism, and became a Buddhist priest. After ten years, he returned to Christianity, but some say he returned as a heretic and blasphemer... This book is the culmination of all his seeking and study. In this book, Merritt draws back the curtain on the ancient mysterious Gnostic spiritual path that the Catholic church has violently suppressed since Christianity began. Keeping it light and easy to read, the author takes the reader down the rabbit hole of the real Matrix, and turns the world upside down and inside out. Discover for yourself, in your own Bible, the lies of God!
in the Garden of Eden, and the Truth told by the Serpent.
From the Author
Jehovah Unmasked was a lifetime in the making. My lifetime. Never one to believe or think what the herd believes or thinks, my life has been one of spiritual searching and discovery. The Jehovah's Witnesses sect was my first sustained experience of religion, and they nearly killed me with their rageing murderous Old Testament god of hate and venegeance. After being shunned by the Witnesses I began an intense spiritual odyssey through the Baptist ministry and then the Buddhist priesthood that culminated in my embracing Gnosticism. Join me on my journey and be prepared for a wild ride!
I was not raised in any religion, so I actively explored several. I was not passively "tossed" as a victim, from religion to religion. I soon outgrew the Witnesses, and eventually mainstream Christianity as well, and even Buddhism. One gets the benefits of my exciting and oddball experiences in my book, which is very colorful indeed thanks to my sincere searching.
I, of course, am not "impartial" in my book. If someone is sincere, they are ALIVE with what they believe and cannot be impartial. Neither could the reader be impartial if you were writing about your own life and your own beliefs and your own journey. "Impartial" is for those critiquing a book such as mine, not for those living it. It is the reader and the reviewer that is expected to be impartial, not the one relaying the story of their own journey and discoveries.
Why on earth would I write a book about my Path and write it in a dry, unimpassioned, aloof manner? Such a book would be both dull and pointless. Let the reviewers be impartial, not someone living the Path! Join me in my unusual journey.
Philosophers and theologians have been wrestling with the issue of the Problem of Evil since ancient times, and continue to do so today. The horrendous suffering of billions of people is not a "lightweight" issue. Rather, the issues dealt with are core issues of both philosophy and religion. The mainstream Christian "answers" to the Problem of Evil raise far more questions than they answer. In fact, they are not "answers" at all, but evasions. I give a thorough and satisfying answer to this ages-old problem, one you will not hear from mainstream Christian of any persuasion.
Yes, I'm aware that Jesus would have been very familiar with the Old Testament. However, there are several verses spoken by Jesus in the New Testament wherein He outright calls the OT God the Devil! There is also a strong thread of early Christian thought in which Jesus is presented as only half-Jewish, and who did not believe in the OT God. Rather, he came with a Message of a Universal God, not a nationalistic deity. All of this is covered in my book. I am far from being the first to discover the Truth about the OT God. Millions upon millions of people have, simply by reading the OT while using their adult critical thinking faculties. That is something I also make clear in my book. The early church was brimming over with Christians such as myself who discovered exactly what I discovered. Precisely such Christians wrote the Nag Hammadi Library! I give a full discussion to the views of early Gnostic Christians on the OT deity. I am not alone, but stand in very August company!
with many of the luminaries of the early Church. Anyone may find God just as I did, and just as they did, with a sincere seeking heart and mind.
